What began as a brainstorming session of a handful of engineers around a card table in 1989 has evolved into a worldwide collaborative effort of thousands of colleagues. Portable
Compact and easy to use, portable GPS devices are ideal for people who want the benefit of a fully functioning navigation system they can take with them anywhere. These portable devices attach quickly to the windshield or dash and draw power from a simple cigarette lighter adapter or a built-in rechargeable battery, making it easy to take it from car to car — or even with you on foot. Featuring bright contrasting color screens that range from 2.1" to 7", portable GPS devices usually feature touch screen controls, voice prompts, a built-in speaker, and an integrated GPS antenna.
In-Dash
If you want to maintain the clean look of your dash and add the convenience of a large monitor with a complete entertainment package, an in-dash system is right for you. Ranging from 6-1/2" to 7", an in-dash monitor provides excellent at-a-glance visibility, with some models capable of playing DVDs on screen, as well as connecting to satellite, HD radio, your iPod or MP3 player. The external GPS antenna included with your in-dash system offers the strongest possible satellite signal.
