I actualy purchased the 'Scout' version since I am little. It campared well to this larger one but was less expensive. (Same bug netting) I think the snake skin is a wonderful thing.

I bring this to sit by the fire at the end of the day/hike.

I have a pair to use when hiking in rocky areas or when there is steep inclines or declines. Garden of the Gods looks rocky so they are getting packed.

Built in bug screen! Awesome. Mosquitos are gone up here in Northern Illinois at the beginning of October but I'm not taking my chances with the South. The big screen is good up to 25 washes I read in my instructions. I also took this hat to Alaska this summer (2008).

I am bringing my lighterweight less rugged boots this time. I am day hiking and won't be carrying a heavy load. No ankle problems so the low cut is ok for me.

Dinner.No more freeze dried food for a while. I am bringing Indian food. Roasted eggplant in tomato and onion sauce. Cooked in a pan of water for 5 minutes on my propane backpackers stove. I will also have Khakhra with it and fruit for dessert. As for my other meals. Breakfast is fruit and oatmeal and an instant coffee (MAJOR sacrafice). Lunch is tuna fish, fruit, & vegetable crisps.

I am naughty and I am bringing a Polish Hazelnut candy bar (like this German one) and a small flask of Irish Whisky to snack while I read before sleep. No food in my tent....critters.
