Round and round she goes. Hi Ho! Cherry-O is the counting game in which players race to be the first to have 10 cherries in their basket. A spin of the arrow determines your fate. It will instruct you to pick one, two, three, or four cherries from your tree and put 'em in your basket. That is, of course, if you don't land on the bird or the dog, requiring you to take two cherries from your basket and return them to the tree. And try not to land on the spilled bucket or--you guessed it--spill the contents of your basket or you start over. --Alison Golder

Amazon.com Teacher Review
One cherry, two cherries, three cherries, four--pick all 10 cherries from the tree and "Hi Ho! Cherry-O!" we've got a winner! For over 30 years, this classic early counting game has delighted children on the road to knowing their numbers. Two to four players choose a tree and place 10 plastic cherries in it. Spin the dial and hope for a chance to pick one to four cherries to place in the bucket. Watch out for the bird or dog--if the arrow lands on one of these, the player must return two cherries. And if the arrow should land on the picture of the spilled bucket... uh-oh! All the cherries go back on the tree! The game includes a game board with spinner, 40 cherries, and four buckets. Sure, the tiny plastic cherries will get lost and chewed on by the family dog, but replacements are available for a nominal fee. And meanwhile, players will be perfecting their counting skills! --Emilie Coulter, a freelance writer with a veritable gaggle of nieces and nephews, has worked for 13 years in children's educational curricula and literature.

Great first counting game for kids5
Our 3-yr old received this game as a gift and thoroughly enjoys it. It is a terrific way for kids to understand how to play board-type games; taking turns, setbacks, etc. The basic game simply has each player remove the number of cherries spun on the spinner. However, there are some "bad" spins that force you to put cherries back on the tree. At first, kids are disappointed to move backwards - but over time, they get the idea that sometimes this happens in games. We use it as a way to start teaching basic math. "If you have 8 cherries and get to take away 2, how many will be left on the tree?" The little cherry buckets are definitely made for kids hands and fingers - they are tough to maneuver for an adult. Small price to pay for a simple to understand, terrific little game.

This is a great game for teaching turn taking and counting.4
This was my daughter's first "real" game. She was 2.8 years old when we purchased it. She was immediately able to play the game. There is no reading involved and focuses on the skills of turn taking, counting, and organizing the playing board. I recommend this as a first game for parents teaching their children how to take turns and count to 10, as well as manipulating small objects on the cherry trees. (I have fun playing this game too).

A great first game for any child!5
I bought this for my daughter when she was just under 3, and she was able to play it without any problem. It is great for counting skills, for taking turns, and for following simple rules. Also, placing the small cherries on the tree is good for fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination. Unlike some other children's games we have tried, this game is quick to compensate for the short attention span of most youngsters, and it is very simple to play. I also remember loving the game as a child, so it has passed the test of time. I'm sure it will continue to be a popular and loved game, and I would highly recommend it to anyone with small children.
