Asus
Excellent PDA and extremely useful for mapping and navigating. Minor issue connecting to free WiFI networks.
ASAS A639 PDA
I bought the ASUS A639 PDA with GPS primarily to use as a GPS since it will run Maptech Pocket Navigator and I already own Maptech charts for my laptop based Offshore Navigator. The A639 comes with a reasonably good street pilot program (DestinAtor) which works fine. The GPS performance is excellent (fast and accurate). The screen is a bit hard to see in bright outdoor light. It comes with a 1GB SD card but much of the space is already filled with maps for the pre-loaded DestinAtor street pilot program. The user manual doesn't say what size SD cards will work and the ASUS Web site didn't help. I bought 4 GB card which did not work so I tried a 2GB card and it worked fine. My big disappointment is that the WiFi which worked initially stopped working after about a week and now appears to connect to my home wireless or other WiFi access point but when I open the browser I get the message "The page cannot be displayed because the connection was lost". The ASUS web site support has been no help and I am still waiting for a response from their online tech help. There does not seem to be any live help line for ASUS in the US.
