Product Description

The second in the exhilarating Sisterhood series From the outside, it looks like Julia Webster lives a normal, happy existence. A highly successful plastic surgeon, she is married to a senator very much on his way up Capitol Hill, and lives in a lovely house in Georgetown. But appearances can be deceptive, as Julia knows only too well. She has long suspected her husband's past is not quite as innocent as he'd like the American public to believe. And when he starts cheating on her, with disastrous consequences for herself and her career, she decides the time has come to teach him a lesson. When the Sisterhood, the closest thing Julia has to a family, picks her case as their next mission, it seems like the perfect time to show the world exactly what her philandering husband's lies and deceit have achieved.

From Publishers Weekly
Once the hallmark of macho fantasy, payback moves to the heart of modern romance in the spotty second installment of Michaels's Revenge of the Sisterhood series, as the heroines of Weekend Warriors regroup for mission number 2. Revenge is a dish best served with cloth napkins and floral centerpiece, according to the Sisterhood members: heiress Myra Rutledge; her adopted daughter, Nikki; Kathryn, the truck driver; Alexis, the African-American broker turned personal shopper; Julia, the plastic surgeon; Isabelle, the psychic; and Yoko, the nursery owner. It's vigilante justice for Julia this time: she's "contracted AIDS from her philandering senator husband." Frail Julia gets strength from her friends and guidance from Myra's lover, Charles, an ex-MI6 British operative and gourmet cook who plays a different kind of Charlie to Myra's Angels. ("Now, girls," says Myra, "let's devour this wonderful luncheon Charles has so wonderfully prepared so we can get to work and do what we do best: going after the scoundrels who have turned your worlds upside down.") Charles arranges invites to an exclusive Washington party where the gorgeous avengers kidnap the senator, but a good-looking assistant district attorney threatens to interfere with their plans (if only he and Nikki weren't out to right past wrongs, they could rekindle their old passion!). Michaels grinds out bestsellers by concocting videogenic plots filled with strong heroines and effortless costume changes. Her fast-paced, sentimental, occasionally silly novel puts poetic justice first; romance must wait for the next installment. (Jan.)

From AudioFile
This second installment in Michaels's Revenge of the Sisterhood Series revolves around the friendship of seven unique women as they plot revenge. Sisterhood member Julia Webster is suffering from AIDS after contracting the disease from her philandering husband, and the women plan vengeance against him. Myra Rutledge, matriarch of the Sisterhood, and her partner, Charles, also enlist the help of the women to exact retribution against a family that has bilked their HMO. Laural Merlington is expert at accents; she easily transitions from Charles's upper-crust British accent to Myra's soft but commanding Southern drawl. Merlington's expert modulation in vocal intensity aptly conveys each speaker's emotions, firmly establishing her as an expert storyteller. Revenge Is Sweet5
The Sisterhood is at it again and the revenge will be even sweeter then it was in Fern's First book Weekend Warriors.
To the outside world Dr.Julia Webster is married to a senator who has given Julia a "gift" that is going to change her life fovever.
The mission the sisterhood has to accomplish is not easy but seeking revenge will give them the stregnth and courage they need to prevail in the mission.
The book is FANTASTIC and once you start you will be hooked until the very last page.
Now we have to sit back and wait for the next mission.

JUSTICE IS ENTERTAININGLY SERVED5

Laural Merlington proffered an aces reading of "Weekend Warriors," the first novel in Fern Michaels's celebrated Sisterhood series. She delivers again with a robust, easy to listen to telling of what these seven dauntless women are up to now. Many will recall that the women are bonded not only by deep friendship but also by a desire to right wrongs. And, when this group gets together over sparkling iced tea and shrimp fritters, someone better look out.

In "Payback" that someone is Julia Webster's husband, a U.S. Senator. Turns out that the politico isn't all his press office says he is. Julia has suspected this for a bit, realizing that her partnership with him has advanced his career to the detriment of her own. But, now that she knows he's also a philanderer it's time for revenge. In her case revenge will be mighty sweet.

The cast of characters becomes even more endearing with the second in Michaels's series, especially Charles, who is not only Myra's lover but also a gourmet cook, and Isabelle who is blessed with psychic powers.

Justice has never been so entertainingly done - give a listen.

Julie Webster is a high-profile doctor who is facing a death sentence administered by her philandering husband. For her there can be no justice, she has lost her career and may lose her life to AIDS.
As Julie grows weaker and more fragile from the disease her friends, through the financial help of Myra Rutledge search for other mates in U.S. Senator Mitchell Webster's extramarital affairs, so they can be warned to seek help. He is being considered as a vice-presidential running mate when The Sisterhood extract their payback.
