Also great taking composed scenic shots with specific field of view. The bokeh is ultra creamy. Many pros love this lens. The 1.8 aperture is razor-thin though so you probably want to stop it down a bit.

At 17mm, it is similar to a 28mm on a 35mm film camera. A very versatile lens that takes very good photos. This lens will only work on a cropped-sensor body. The lens hood isn't extra (thanks Tamron!)

I have taken hand-held close-ups of kids performing on stage from half-way back in a concert hall, and all the way back in a church to the front. Get great close-ups of animals. It is very sharp. Only for cropped sensors.
