The sides and the back of the iPod are covered by leather to prevent unsightly scratches. The Leather Folio features a wallet-style flap design, and a leather flap covers the face when it is not being used. A magnetic closure keeps the flap securely closed. Suits Me Fine
I bought this because I was looking for an iPod case in these colors and because the price was right. I had already read the reviews of others prior to making this purchase and knew before I got it to expect it to have a smell, and it did - boy, did it ever smell. This is not the smell of leather, which I happen to like; this is the smell of chemically-treated pleather, the the worst of its kind. It came out of the box reeking and it needed to be aired out for about a week before the smell finally dissipated and it never smelled of leather at all.
That being said, it is an attractive case which fits my iPod Classic (80Gb) perfectly with easy access to all the right spots. I found that by flipping the cover back and attaching the velcro to the back of the case it can be held in an open position for viewing of videos and while in the closed position I was able to wrap the ear-bud(s) cord around the case and secure it with the velcro closure.
All in all, it was a good buy and I'd recommend it to anyone who can withstand the smell for about a week.
The smell is gone!!!
I almost didn't buy this case because of the reviews claiming how bad it smelled. I'm very sensitive to chemical odors and develop headaches from colognes, perfumes, candles and other fragrances.
However, I decided to buy this case anyway because I thought it looked great and seemed to be one of the best cases for my 160gb iPod. I thought I'd just set it out on my patio for a week or two and let it air out before using it.
Well, when it arrived I was pleasantly surprised. There was no strong odor at all! All of you who complained, maybe your complaints did the trick or it is just coincidence, but for some reason they must have stopped using the strong chemicals in the tanning process. It has a light pleasant smell such as common on a nice leather wallet.
The iPod looks great in it. It fits perfectly and seems to give the iPod a decent amount of added protection. Plus the iPod is just easier to hold onto in the case.
I am extremely satisfied with the purchase of this product.

Yes, it does smell...bad! gave me a headech. i like how its really strudy and good looking really cheap and easy to carry around. i would give it a 4½
but the smell!
