Key Features
- 720p resolution (1366 x 768)
- 60Hz video scan rate
- 10-bit video processor offers more colors
- CineSpeed LCD panel has an 8ms response speed necessary for cleaner high-action home theater images. A wide viewing angle ensures that you'll have the best seat in the house.
- DynaLight Backlight Control utilizes advanced image processing to monitor the brightness of each video frame, and adjust the backlight intensity accordingly. This precision creates seamless transitions with deep blacks for increased detail and depth analysis.
- Native Mode restores the size of the picture by the 3-5 percent that is generally lost during the normal over-scanning that occurs on traditional sets.
- Built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM digital tuning allows for tuning of standard cable channels as well as off-air digital broadcasts, in addition to digital "cable-in-the-clear" broadcasts.
- Cinema Mode 24 fps (3:2 Pulldown): This HDTV performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, too-- a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant information to display a frame-accurate picture.
- Color Temperature Control: Most Toshiba televisions provide three user-selectable Color Temperature settings affect the sets overall white balance. The "Warm" setting reduces the color temperature to an NTSC standard 6500 degrees Kelvin and delivers a redder image that is ideal for display in a dimly lit room. "Medium" and "Cool" provide a progressively bluer image for the best picture as room light levels are increased.
- TheaterWide: Sets with TheaterWide modes are ideal for displaying HDTV signals as well as enhanced for widescreen television DVDs.
- TheaterWide 1:Letterboxed image is digitally expanded 33 percent horizontally and vertically. Useful for reproducing Academy Standard (1.85:1) formatted software.
- TheaterWide 2:Letterboxed image is expanded 33 percent horizontally and 42 percent vertically. Particularly of use when viewing narrow letterboxed images originally filmed in Panavision or CinemaScope.
- TheaterWide 3:Letterboxed image is expanded 33 percent horizontally and 24 percent vertically. Can be utilized when displaying letterboxed images that incorporate narrow bands at the top and bottom of the picture.
- Gaming Mode enhances the gaming experience by reducing the amount of time it takes for the signal to travel from the game controller to the TV.
- Channel Browser allows you to easily scan through the last 32 channels you have viewed, with screen images for the last five channels displayed, by channel, by favorites, and by input, at the touch of a button.
- Channel Labeling allows you to put station call letters on the screen along with the station numbers, so you always know what channel you're watching.
- Energy Star 3.0 compliant
- Warranty: 12 months for parts and labor
Connections
- HDMI (version 1.3): 2
- Component: 2
- Composite A/V: 2 (1 front, 1 side)
- S-Video: 1
- PC input (15-pin, D-Sub): 1
- Digital audio output: 1 optical

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?
![]() | With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

Best 720P SET......
So I was in the market for a 32 inch set for the bedroom and decided to go with 720P, since 1080P just isn't necessary for this size. I looked at the Panny, LG, and the Sammy 460 series and this Toshiba's had the deepest blacks out of the three. Blacks are more important to me being a Kuro owner. I've had this tv up and running now for 24 hours straight for over a week and no issues thus far. Very sharp picture with HD running through it. SD doesn't look as sharp at all, but that is the case with any LCD. Good blacks(for an lcd). The screen is a matte, so you don't get the reflections. Off viewing axis is better than most LCD'S, but being a plasma owner, it sucks in comparison. The color accuracy leaves something to be desired. Luckily the picture menu allows you to correct this. The sound is decent, although you will get vibration with certain dialog with the bass turned all the way up. Here are the settings I came up with for the best possible picture and fixing the color issue, which is a green push. This was done with a ISF calibration disc in a dark room. If you wish for a brighter picture for sports viewing or because you have the tv in a brighter setting, then bump up the backlight. Note: I will keep updating these settings until I feel they are perfect, so keep checking in from time to time.
UPDATED SETTINGS:
HDMI
MODE: PREFERENCE
CONTRAST: 70
BACKLIGHT: 60
DYNALIGHT: OFF
BRIGHTNESS: 56
COLOR: 45
TINT: 0
SHARPNESS: 4
ADVANCED PICTURE SETTINGS:

STATIC GAMMA: 0
COLOR TEMP: WARM
B DRIVE: 0
G DRIVE: -5
NOISE REDUCTION:
DNR: OFF
MPEG REDUCTION: OFF
THEATER SETTINGS:
PICTURE SIZE: NATIVE(HDMI)
CINEMA MODE: FILM
AUTO ASPECT RATIO: OFF
I gave it a four star only because of the speaker vibration during certain dialog and the major color adjustment it needed, but for the money, I could have easily given it a five star.
Great TV for the price
Got this in today. UPS delivered with a hole in the box and broken styrofoam blocks. TV was fine, though.
No dead pixels and everything is functional. Picture is very good with strong clarity and fine tuning controls that help a lot. Black levels are better than my Philips 1080P set!
Setup is a bit lengthy and the manual is not as detailed considering how big it is. Play with the controls for awhile and you'll get the gist of the tuning controls for picture.
Works with cable or Antenna OTA signals just fine. Strong signal too with a signal meter that is very helpful.
If using OTA HD antenna, set the TV to an "antenna" input and then do a channel search. Once it worked, the OTA signals look better than the HD Uverse.
The sound is VERY clear with a decent bass to it. Compared to a Sony, Samsung, and Panasonic that I listened to at a store this was MUCH better sounding.
Channels change quickly with the remote. Remote is universal with up to two other input controls. Size of text on the screen is good without being too big. Info buttons show the display of the show info very quickly.
Will put on a good power surge protector after reading a post about power supply issues. Most of that tends to be because of power flucuations from the socket or cheap surge protectors. However, sometimes things just die as I've seen on both regular and HDTV's.
Excellent set overall. I compared this to my 42" 1080P set and the difference was minor. Awesome for the bedroom, den, or even a main HDTV.
Will update if I have any problems. Paid with Amex so that I double the warranty for free.
Great Tv
This is a great tv.Sound and picture quality are very satisfactory. You have different sound and picture settings for different purposes, gaming, movie, sports etc.Since the frame is also black,it seems larger than 32" at first sight :D. There is only one problem which is rare. When you try to switch the input (from HDMI to cable etc.),the screen goes black. In that case you should shut down the TV and then turn it on.That's why I gave 4 stars.Otherwise, it is great. We have been using it for 7 months and we are very happy.
