Editorial Reviews
From the Manufacturer
This is a full spectrum table lamp certified by Energy Star. The lamp uses a 27watt full spectrum light bulb that simulates natural sun light. The bright light given off by this energy saving light bulb is excellent for reading. The lamp is in a sleek black finish.
Customer Reviews
Nice lamp until the ballast fails...
I bought one of these about 6 months ago. Was a nice lamp until it quit. The ballast inside died. I called the manufacturer Grandrich and they apparently do not have a warranty because all they offered was to sell me a replacement ballast with shipping would be almost as much as I paid for the whole lamp. I have a useless lamp now with several spare bulbs I bought thinking the lamp would outlast the bulbs. I will find another brand of lamp these spare bulbs I have will work in but it will not be a Grandrich product.
review of desk lamp
This product was awful. We returned it because it did not work. Cheap materials and wiring that was all wrong. Do not buy it.
A fine lamp for the money!
I bought this lamp for my electronics workbench, and the quality seems fine at this price-point.
There is some minor assembly required: you have to screw the gooseneck onto the base which was dead simple. I would suggest you pre-twist the cord a few counter-clockwise turns before putting it on the thread so as to relieve long-term stress.
The metal clip holding on to the bulb only seems to work on one side, but that is sufficient as the bulb is so lightweight. I would have liked to have seen the entire interior surface of the hood lined in something reflective (there is a reflector directly behind the bulb, but none around the edges, just black plastic) which would have made it more efficient, but the lamp is sufficiently bright as-is for my purposes.
The light is very white and intense and the gooseneck stays where you put it. I think I would have preferred to have the power switch located on the base, but where it is is OK too - it is a decent rocker switch located on the underside of the hood where it meets the gooseneck. I've had it about a week now and it's working fine.
