Still Life with Crows (Pendergast, Book 4)Still Life with Crows (Pendergast, Book 4) by Douglas Preston
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $1.95
The Childs/Preston books are some of the best around. I've ready them all and with the exception of the most recent Pendergast novel have found them to be exceptional.
UtopiaUtopia by Lincoln Child
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.00
This is a really fun read about a futuristic amusement park. He has also written several new novels that have been fun and interesting.
The CodexThe Codex by Douglas Preston
Buy new: $4.99 / Used from: $0.27
Don't be afraid to break off into the separate books written by Douglas Preston. I have not read Blasphemy but have enjoyed some of his other novels.
SubterraneanSubterranean by James Rollins
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.67
One of my favorite James Rollins books. I have also enjoyed most all of his other efforts.
Jurassic ParkJurassic Park by Michael Crichton
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
Michael Crichton is the king. About the only book by his I have not enjoyed was Next, with way to many disjointed subplots and characters. Was just not written the way I expect a Crichton book to be.
Odd ThomasOdd Thomas by Dean Koontz
Buy new: $11.20 / Used from: $5.65
I had stopped reading Dean Koontz many years ago because I felt all his novels started to sound the same. I picked up this series a while back and have enjoyed it pretty well; quirky character and interesting writing. Not bad but if you want some good Koontz go back to Watchers and some of the books from that era.
Club Dead (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 3)Club Dead (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 3) by Charlaine Harris
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $3.57
OK, a little chicky but these are actually pretty good reads. I also enjoy her Harper Connelly series.
Lean Mean Thirteen (Stephanie Plum, No. 13)Lean Mean Thirteen (Stephanie Plum, No. 13) by Janet Evanovich
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $4.44
OK, another chicky pick and not fitting to the general theme but these are really fun reads.
Event: A Novel (Event Group Thrillers)Event: A Novel (Event Group Thrillers) by David Golemon
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $3.30
I've only read one of these but enjoyed it pretty well. Hoping to find some of the others in my local used bookstore sometime.
Seven Deadly Wonders: A NovelSeven Deadly Wonders: A Novel by Matthew Reilly
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
Yikes, this was a pretty silly book. Seems like I have enjoyed one or two of his other books (Ice Station being one) but this is one to avoid.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Book 6)Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Book 6) by J.K. Rowling
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $4.99
Come on, who doesn't like these books.
Saving the World (Maximum Ride, Book 3)Saving the World (Maximum Ride, Book 3) by James Patterson
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $4.25
If you want to read this series go back to the original version. Years ago, Mr. Patterson used pretty much the same premise in another book and had a much more successful outcome. I did not care for the writing on these. He does however have a lot of other good books to his name.
CreepersCreepers by David Morrell
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
Nice concept and an OK read.
The Ruins (Vintage) (Vintage)The Ruins (Vintage) (Vintage) by Scott Smith
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
Got this book around the time I found out a movie was coming out. Had no desire to see the movie after suffering through this read.
The BestiaryThe Bestiary by Nicholas Christopher
Buy new: $11.20 / Used from: $3.89
Another OK read but could have been better.
The Third TwinThe Third Twin by Ken Follett
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
I haven't read Ken Follet in a while as some of his books seemed repetitive. However, he has had some good books over the years and may be worth picking up some more as we have had a good separation.
SinnerSinner by Sharon Carter Rogers
Buy new: $11.19 / Used from: $0.49
This had pretty good reviews and a good concept but I had some issues with it. Still, I made it through with minimal effort.
Plum IslandPlum Island by Nelson DeMille
Buy new: $15.95 / Used from: $6.00
Nelson DeMille has had some good books over the years and is another author I should probably get current on.
Gateways (Repairman Jack)Gateways (Repairman Jack) by F. Paul Wilson
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.99
I enjoy this series; a bit of supernatural mixed in with a good hard-nosed character.
Charon's LandingCharon's Landing by Jack Du Brul
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.02
I have a hard time with this series but as I got the 1st three all at the same time I am hoping they pick up a bit (I'm through the second and debating whether to read the third or not). The plot premises appear to be pretty good but the main character is over the top and the geo-political situations are beyond unrealistic.
Raising AtlantisRaising Atlantis by Thomas Greanias
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $3.46
Seems like I have read several books about Atlantis but this one was OK. I picked up the sequel but have not read it yet.
The TrenchThe Trench by Steve Alten
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.01
Some of the Meg books are really good, although I think he may be running out of good shark plots. I liked the first of the Domain trilogy (read it before there was any follow-up) but did not even make it a 100 pages into the 2nd. It was pretty obnoxious.
Deception PointDeception Point by Dan Brown
Buy used from: $0.01
I like Dan Brown pretty well and some of this pre- Da Vinci Code books are definitely worth the read.
AtlantisAtlantis by David Gibbins
Buy new: $13.57 / Used from: $7.01
Wasn't the worst book I've ever read but as noted in the reviews, moved pretty slowly at times.
The Myth Hunters (The Veil, Book 1)The Myth Hunters (The Veil, Book 1) by Christopher Golden
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.77
Found it sort of interesting and a nice change of pace.
