Have them always for backup
This 22cm gasket is needed for Kuhn Rikon's 3342 model pressure cooker which amazon also sells a 6-piece set with pressure pan with glass lid.
I think anyone which a pressure cooker need to have atleast one gasket as backup as you never know when some guest might put your gasket in the bottom shelf of dishwasher and mess it up because of excessive heat there.
We had a similar bad experience and amazon didn't have any in stock then. Ever since, we make sure to have one back up gasket!
Good stuff.
This new type material gasket has been in my pressure cookers for about 3 years....looks like it was put in yesterday....I have two for two separate pots...both are excellent....not cheap but they work and last well......will buy again.
These gaskets last a long time
I've had these gaskets last as long as 3 years with at least weekly use, and often several times per week. I do wash them carefully and coat them with a little olive oil before putting them away but find them very durable. You can tell when you need to replace one because the steam starts to leak out when you're trying to build up pressure and no matter how you turn it or press it inside the cover, it just won't hold a good seal anymore. I always keep one on hand as a backup since I use my pressure cookers often. They're kind of expensive, but when you figure how long they last and especially how much energy you save using a Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker, it's pretty nominal.
