Customer Reviews
Close to perfection....Things you don't know about this unit...
Pros: Everything is customizable
comfortable to hold
Helpful customer service
Cons: Battery Guzzler (light can be turned off)
Free customer service only good for 90 days, so abuse it!!
Delay when turning multi devices on.
No power button for individual devices
I will tell you things about this remote that other reviewers might not mentioned.
1. Be ready to spend alot of time tweaking this remote if you have a more complex entertainment system. For example, I have a projector that required you to power off twice. i had to call customer service to figure out how to do it but it is possible.
2. Battery Guzzler: Customer service said the blue light is what drained the battery. The light illuminates whenever you push any of the "one touch" button. The light can be turn off where you can manually turn it on by pushing the "glow" button. Under normal use on automatic, you're look at 2-3 weeks of battery life. On manually, you're looking at about 2 months. Another way to save battery is to use a second remote like your Tv remote for more active activities. Having 2 active remotes is better than 5+ remotes and save battery. If not, go and spend $100+ on their rechargeable model.
3. Delay when turning multi devices on: It takes a good 5+ seconds for the remote to slowly turn all your devices on and changing to the proper inputs. It is not perfect. If you don't aim at the right angle, it might misses a device then you have to go through the "help" button. So know where to aim!
4. No power button for individual devices: Every device you add in your list, there is no default power button. You have to go to "customize" to create your own power button.
Works like a charm
I bought the refurb version from Amazon along with the Playstation 3 adapter. Now I no longer have to fumble around with 4 remotes to get everything working the way I want it to. I have a TV, Home Theater, DVR Cable Box and the PS3, and the Harmony was a breeze to set up. The included software found all my models and programming was a snap. I held off for so long because Harmonys were not compatible with the PS3, but now I am so glad to have one. My only minor complaints are that the navigation buttons are slightly cramped and I wish the keys had more of a "clicky" microswitch feel that the navigation buttons have. Nonetheless, it is a well built product that will make leisure time just that more enjoyable. The refurb model is a steal to boot.
Not recommended for uverse
Bought this to try to eliminate using 3 remotes with our uverse / home theater setup. Not recommended for this use. Its pretty complicated to set up and when we do get it set up it has dropped the settings several times and required reprogramming. Got sick of it and threw this very expensive remote in a drawer and went back to juggling the ones that work.
