Mederma is the first topical gel formulated to help soften and smooth out the appearance of unsightly scars. May be used on children and adults alike on healed wounds incurred from household accidents, burns and injuries. Mederma has also been shown to be helpful in preventing and/or resolving stretch marks, especially new, reddened, raised stretch marks. Mederma is also useful for resolving the aftermath of recently resolved inflammed acne lesions as well. Should be applied 3-4 times a day for a minimum of 8 weeks for routine new scars. Comes with a chart to determine the length of time it should be used for various skin defects. This is the 50g size. (Be careful of others selling a smaller size for a variety of prices.)

Lukewarm Review
I used this after having my second baby, complete with stretch marks and a keloid cesarean scar. I began using it when she was about five months old. Maybe I would have gotten better results had I acted sooner? I didn't realize my scar was a keloid, and was waiting for it to fade and soften. Once I realized what it was, I began using the Mederma. I went through the big tube, and saw minimal results, if any. It's hard to say if the improvement was from the product or just from time. I recommend scar massage to anyone who has had a c-section: my doctor and all my books didn't even mention it. Research it online. It will prevent adhesions from forming below your scar, which stick to the underlying tissues and may cause the keloid in the first place. It is also very painful when you get out of bed because the adhesions are pulling and feel like they're ripping. After faithfully doing the scar massage for about two months, my scar is looser and doesn't look like it's "stapled" down to my stomach muscles anymore. However, it is still red and raised, so I am continuing my search for a solution...
I like this product
Mederma helped me with my strechmarks from having a baby. they have faded alot! It really works. I'm very happy.
Didn't work for hypertrophic/keloid scarring
I had a c-section and as soon as the steri strips were removed after surgery I began using mederma. I used 3 tubes of the product over 2-3 months and I have a very thick red, raised scar. The surgeon performing the surgery is very skilled and the wound was closed properly. We both expected it to be barely noticeable in a few months. Mederma just didn't help to prevent hypertrophic scarring. I will use silicone sheets next time.
