Uses a carbon microfilter to combine activated carbon to reduce chlorine, sediment, bad taste, and odor with an ion exchange resin that reduces lead and copper. It also reduces pesticides (lindane, atrazine, and 2,4-D) and chemicals that are linked to increased cancer risk (benzene, TTHMs, and toxaphene). The filter leaves beneficial fluoride in the water. All filters come with a built-in Automatic Safety Monitor gauge so that you'll know (and even in advance) when it's time to change the filter.

PUR Water
It's hard to find replacement filters for my PUR pitcher, yet I found them easily at amazon.com. And, I couldn't have been happier. Not only did I find my product, but the price was so good that I ordered up a goodly supply! I find I'm relying more and more on amazon.com to purchase the items that are sometimes hard to find elsewhere.

PUR Is The Best
I love PUR, so much more better tasting water than the Britta, which seems to have that plastic taste, not with PUR. I wouldn't use any other type of water filter. Too bad some are having problems receiving the correct filter, however it's not a "product review" which lowers ratings for the product itself. There is a section for the shippers, just a suggestion. Good luck to you though, it can be frustrating.

Pictured Filter is not the one I received!
Like some customers before me I had problems with this item. In fact, I called customer service (BEFORE I ordered the item) to make sure that the item pictured would be the item I received. Alas, it was not--the kind of filter really does matter. So I called again and was told that the matter would be looked into--here's hoping someone does their job and keeps their promise!
