It has a 0 to 8000 RPM range and internal settings for 4, 6, and 8 cylinder and 12-volt negative ground engines. It has internal dial lighting, a 250-degree dial sweep, and is compatible with most automotive ignition systems including standard or electronic distributors, distributorless systems, and most aftermarket systems, excluding magnetos. It has a fast needle response and covers 90-percent of full scale in 4/10th of a second.

Sunpro Tach White Face
I purchased this tachometer as a replacement for my AutoMeter Pro Comp that was stolen from my Truck. I wanted a reasonably priced replacement that worked reliably - I didn't want another expensive tachometer since my truck is very old. The Sun-Pro Super Tachometer II that I purchased arrived promptly and I was able to hook it up to the existing wires (which were used for the previous tach, but were detached when when it was stolen). They were already attached as the instructions that came with the Sun-Pro tachometer indicated, so I didn't have to use all of the supplied wiring and connectors - which would have sufficed. After hook-up, it performed just as well the previous tachometer and has not faltered since.

PROS: The price (Purchased for $29 - can't beat it) and its light weight.

CONS: The housing appears to be made of a plastic material and needs to be carefully handled if you don't want the surface damaged (It can easily be painted if needed). It also appears to be able to withstand some punishment, but unknown if it is as durable as a metal housing.


...Also, because I got the white face version, I had to be sure to mount the tachometer so that the reflection of the white face, especially at night, would not show on the front windshield - which could be a distraction. (If it does, then it needs to be mounted further into the dash (like mine) or a hood could be fabricated and placed on the top of the tachometer.)

...If I had another vehicle in need of a well priced tachometer, I would purchase another Sun-Pro Super Tachometer II.
