This handsome, well-made chaise is tailor-made for soaking up the sun or relaxing by the pool. A unique tray table extends to hold drinks, magazines, and other lounging essentials, then slides back underneath for storage. The back adjusts to five positions--from fully-upright to completely-reclined. Matching cushions can also be purchased to add even more comfort.

The bench’s slotted surface allows rain to flow through, rather than collect and damage the wood. The piece is made from kapur wood, a high-density Southeast Asian hardwood with excellent weather-resistant properties. Light enough to move easily around deck or lawn, kapur requires no finishing and is exceptionally-sturdy--with enough oil to repel the ravages of rain, sun, and dew. Rust-resistant hardware and mortise and tenon construction also add to the piece’s strength and durability.

Before shipment, your new furniture received a generous application of teak oil. Teak oil provides protection from the ultraviolet sunrays. Left untreated, Kapur will weather to a soft warm shade of gray similar to the weathering of teak. If you prefer to prevent this weathering process, you may apply additional coats of teak oil. The frequency of necessary teak oil applications will depend on the intensity of the sun in your environment, but typically, one or two coats per year is sufficient. Teak oil can usually be found at a marine dealer, hardware store, or internet dealer. If you allow your furniture to weather, you may later decide that you would want to restore it to its original condition. This is possible by using teak cleaner products, also available at most marine dealers and internet dealers. After following the instructions for cleaning, you will want to apply a coat of teak oil to prevent the weathering process.

The Strathwood Basic Elements Chaise Lounge is ideal for lounging around the pool, back deck or back yard. The back features a 5 position adjustment for upright seating, very relaxed seating or completely flat seating. A very handy tray slides to either side or can rest below the chaise when not in use. For more comfort add a chaise lounge cushion. This sturdy chaise lounge is easily assembled with an adjustable wrench and the supplied allen wrench. The entire chaise is made of Kapur which is an all-weather wood that is dense and durable. Kapur wood requires no finishing and will not rot when left outdoors where rain and sun will damage other lesser quality woods. Left untreated, Kapur will weather to a soft warm shade of gray similar to the weathering of teak. Sturdy mortise and tenon construction provides the highest quality joinery that will last for many years. Original color can be maintained by applying a seasonal coat of teak oil.

Very classy looking...
Ordered and received two chairs recently. As I live in the Cayman Islands they had to be shipped to a freight forwarder and then on to me, so no question of returning. Both chairs were damaged: one of the slide out tables had a 3 inch split on the underneath side and the other one, the extra bottom piece was split and needed to be glued and clamped. None of the above damage is visible now, the lounges look great i have had lots of comments, especially on price (and looks) and so far am quite happy.

Another good value
These are great. Had a bit of trouble building them at first...it comes in a box FULL of pieces. After the first one was done, it wasn't bad. If you don't like assembly, this product may not be for you. Price was good and they're strong. The beverage tray is great!

Will not last more than two years
I bought two of these in 2006. I have now thrown them away. They are completely trashed. The slats fall off if you even touch them. The screws the manufacturer used are miniscule. If you move the chairs, slats fall off. Maybe they would hold up if you kept them indoors at all times. It really annoys me, because I believed all the PR about these being sturdy and made out of a solid wood. What a piece of garbage and a hassle since I had to haul them out to a house in the middle of nowhere and then had to find a way of disposing of them two years later! Better to pay more money and get a piece of furniture that will actually last.
