Customer Reviews

Laplink 2000 - Nice software5
Laplink 2000 is perhaps the only Laplink software that still works with Windows 3.1, but be aware that it will refuse to install on Windows XP. Luckily, it does install on Windows ME, however.

Also be aware that Laplink.com makes their own proprietary parallel cable, so if someone sells you the CD without the cable you can't go down to your friendly computer store and buy one. In addition, Laplink wants $15 for their proprietary yellow parallel cable and they add another $10 or so for shipping, so if the cable did not come in the box like it did in the original retail box, the "cheap" used price you thought you paid here is not so cheap after all.

You should also know that that many file "transfer" cables are now called "Laplink" even though they are designed for Interlink or some other software. "Laplink", like "Xerox" and "Kleenex", seems to have become a generic term, but unfortunately these cables are not the same as the proprietary cable that you will need to make this sofware work. So if you see a used Laplink CD for sale, keep that in mind and ask if the cable is included before you buy.

Other than that, this is a pretty cool and well-designed file transfer utility. Now if I can only find Laplink.com's proprietary cable pinout ....
