By an Amazon.com customer
Abbey RoadAbbey Road by The Beatles
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $5.00
I know it's very cliche, but I really don't care. There isn't much to be said about this album that hasn't already been said. Over the years this album has brought nothing but exctasy to my ears. No album will ever match the last 8 songs on this record.
Layla and Other Assorted Love SongsLayla and Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek and the Dominos
Buy new: $9.97 / Used from: $6.03
My all-time favourite guitarist Skydog (Duane Allman) teams up with the greatest living guitarist and underrated songwriter Eric Clapton to form a supergroup. This album contains the greatest rock song of all-time Layla, but the hidden gem is Bell Bottom Blues. All the songs are stellar, too bad this could be the only effort from this group. R.I.P. Duane
HeartbreakerHeartbreaker by Ryan Adams
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $7.95
This is everything I have ever wanted from an album and more. The greatest alt-country or americana album of all-time. The songwriting is top-notch. Don't ever think you know Ryan Adams until you get a listen at this record.
Oddessey & OracleOddessey & Oracle by Zombies
I guess over time people seem to forget about The Zombies. I find it to be a miracle that I was exposed to this album 40 years later. This album never has and never will get the justice it deserves. Time of the Season was the only hit, but might be the worst song on the album and it is still a great song. "This Will Be Our Year" might be my favorite song of all-time.
What's Going onWhat's Going on by Marvin Gaye
Buy new: $7.97 / Used from: $4.30
Great songwriting from one of the greatest voices of all-time. Nobody ever thought Marvin had it in him but he influence many through his words and primarily due to this album. An absolute R & B/Soul masterpiece.
Pet SoundsPet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Buy used from: $2.54
At first I was very skeptical about this because I never thought The Beach Boys had much depth to them. I was only exposed to their poppy, fun in the sun music, but this album proves to anyone that Brian Wilson was one of the greatest songwriters of his time.
Midnight MaraudersMidnight Marauders by A Tribe Called Quest
Buy new: $12.99 / Used from: $5.58
Many people outside my generation probably will never accept rap for whatever reasons. But to take anything away from this album is criminal. Most intelligent rap group of all-time.
The Allman Brothers at Fillmore EastThe Allman Brothers at Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers Band
Buy new: $9.97 / Used from: $7.82
The greatest live album of all-time. The father's of southern rock at their best. If it wasn't for the immature deaths of Duane Allman and bassist Berry Oakley The Allman Brothers would have been up their with The Beatles, Stones, Who, Zep., etc...
Post-WarPost-War by M. Ward
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $8.49
There is a very strong chance you have never heard of M. Ward and I feel very sorry for you. You probably think I am crazy for putting some random guy up here with these music immortals. Please get familiar with him. "Chinese Translation" best song of the past 15 years.
Highway 61 RevisitedHighway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
Buy new: $8.97 / Used from: $5.38
No top 10 list would be complete without Zimmerman. I find this to be his best work. "Like a Rolling Stone", enough said.
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club BandSgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $6.89
Arguably the most influential album of all-time. So many bands tried to compete with this album yet failed. State of the Art record. A Day in the Life is the best Beatles song ever.
Portrait of a Legend 1951-1964Portrait of a Legend 1951-1964 by Sam Cooke
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $13.06
I hate to put greatest hits albums on here but I have to. In my opinion Sam Cooke has the greatest voice of all-time. "A Change is Gonna Come" remains one of the most important songs ever written.
All Things Must Pass [BOXED EDITION]All Things Must Pass [BOXED EDITION] by George Harrison
Buy new: $18.97 / Used from: $14.99
George was miserable during his Beatles years. This album proves his songwriting ability and intelligence. A very underrated guitar player. The Dark Horse shines.
(What's the Story) Morning Glory?(What's the Story) Morning Glory? by Oasis
Buy new: $10.97 / Used from: $1.00
The biggest British group since The Beatles. Aspired to be just like them. Amazing music and simply an amazing album. "Don't look back in Anger" is the best song.
IllmaticIllmatic by Nas
Buy new: $11.98 / Used from: $5.49
Anyone who believes Lil' Wayne when he says that he is the best rapper alive obviously hasn't heard this album. This debut album still remains Nas' best work. We also the emergence of another great rapper AZ. 50 minutes of pure brilliance.
ExodusExodus by Bob Marley & the Wailers
Buy new: $9.97 / Used from: $8.29
Many Jamaicans saw Marley as a prophet. After listening to this album I can almost understand. One of the most peaceful people to ever live. Man that put reggae on the map.
The BendsThe Bends by Radiohead
Buy new: $49.99 / Used from: $20.29
I am not the world's biggest Radiohead fan. I am not really into their new stuff but this album is nothing short of a masterpiece.
In a Silent WayIn a Silent Way by Miles Davis
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $5.99
Most critics have Kind of Blue atop their lists'. This one stands on top of mine. The most peaceful album ever recorder.
John PrineJohn Prine by John Prine
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $7.37
The song "Paradise" has been a bar staple for years. You just never knew who sang it. This album is very politically motivated. It still remains outside of time. Every song has a strong message.
40 Oz. to Freedom40 Oz. to Freedom by Sublime
Buy new: $9.97 / Used from: $3.50
I don't listen to Sublime nearly as much as I did in my high school days. Many of these songs were anthems to many kids I knew. This album will always be a part of my past. Many think their self-titled album is their best work, think again.
Sweetheart of the RodeoSweetheart of the Rodeo by The Byrds
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $5.88
I feel like this group should have been up their with The Beatles and Stones, but for some reason were never immortalized. Maybe the most versatile group I have ever heard. The album remains very important to artist's today like Wilco and Ryan Adams.
The Velvet Underground & NicoThe Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Buy new: $7.97 / Used from: $4.40
One of the more depressing albums ever written, but it is nothing short of brilliant. "Heroin" has to be the crazy song I have ever heard.
Are You ExperiencedAre You Experienced by The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Buy new: $9.97 / Used from: $6.95
Who can forget James Marshal Hendrix?

OrganixOrganix by The Roots
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $10.99
The Roots are finally starting to get their much needed praise. An amazing musical act for the modern age. Their debut work remains their best. Great lyrics by black thought, even better drumming by ?uestlove.
Blind MelonBlind Melon by Blind Melon
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $0.48
Everybody knows them because of the song "No Rain," but they are no one hit wonder. "Change" is one of the best pop songs of the 90's.

Mermaid AvenueMermaid Avenue by Billy Bragg & Wilco

3 Feet High and Rising3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul

If rap would have been alive during the 1960's this is what it would have sounded like. The hippiest rap album ever made.
American BeautyAmerican Beauty by Grateful Dead

The Grateful Dead album with folk/bluegrass influence. The one studio album that remains stellar from a band that is known for their live musical acts.

Blackheart ManBlackheart Man by Bunny Wailer
Buy new: $9.97 / Used from: $6.27
The George Harrison of reggae, great songwriter.
It Still MovesIt Still Moves by My Morning Jacket
Buy used from: $3.50
Being from Louisville this is probably a biased pick. Although the much anticipated "Evil Urges" was a disappointment, this wasn't. Listen to this album and My Morning Jacket's other albums to see why they are up their with the Wilco's and Radioheads for best bands of today.
BlueBlue by Joni Mitchell

The greatest woman songwriter and one of the greatest voices. Although I am a man I often find myself listening to Joni and this is her best work.
