This is the first book that really summed up the questions I was asking. It didn't give all the answers I sought but at least I realized I wasn't alone in my questions.

Stories of Emergence: Moving from Absolute to Authentic (Emergent YS)Stories of Emergence: Moving from Absolute to Authentic (Emergent YS)

Don't go to this book if you are looking for heavy duty theological positions of the emerging church. This book is good in framing the questions or with some crises regarding their faith that led them to embracing the emerging church.
An Emergent Theology for Emerging ChurchesAn Emergent Theology for Emerging Churches by Ray S. Anderson

This book is difficult reading but if you want to understand the "emergent theology" that many of the leaders in the "emerging church" are espousing such as being missional, read this book.
It's a Dance: Moving with the Holy SpiritIt's a Dance: Moving with the Holy Spirit by Patrick Oden

This book really explores what life led by the Spirit really looks like. A highly readable narrative story takes extremely difficult theological terms about the nature of the Spirit and our being led by the Spirit and explains them in everyday language.
Becoming Conversant with the Emerging Church: Understanding a Movement and Its ImplicationsBecoming Conversant with the Emerging Church: Understanding a Movement and Its Implications by D. A. Carson
Buy new: $10.19 / Used from: $7.95
I can't just give you books that praise the movement. In his critique of the movement, D.A. Carson is correct in saying we must be wary of tainting our belief, I just don't believe he understand the movement as a whole.
Uprising: A Revolution of the SoulUprising: A Revolution of the Soul by Erwin Raphael McManus

Renovation of the Heart: Putting On the Character of ChristRenovation of the Heart: Putting On the Character of Christ by Dallas Willard

This book is the basis of much of the leaders of the emerging church's works. It talks about spiritual transformation and why it is so necessary and how it occurs in someone. It battles with the sedentary aspect of many believers and those who embrace a Christianity light.
No Perfect People Allowed: Creating a Come-as-You-Are Culture in the ChurchNo Perfect People Allowed: Creating a Come-as-You-Are Culture in the Church by John Burke
Buy new: $11.69 / Used from: $1.00
This book actually talks about doing a church in a way that is missional and has a "come as you are" and "we'll meet you where you are at" mentality. Yet it is also good in starting that people are encouraged to growth in their faith. It deals with many messy aspects of church.
Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian FaithVelvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith by Rob Bell

Don't let the title fool you. It is a book that stretches how you view "being a Christian".
The Second ChanceThe Second Chance
Buy new: $9.95 / Used from: $3.95
This is a great story of a pastor who seems to have it all and is led by the Spirit to his father's former church that is in a "bad" part of town. Here his view of being a Christian is challenged and turned upside down as he comes to embrace a missional life of purpose led by the Spirit.
The Truth War: Fighting for Certainty in an Age of DeceptionThe Truth War: Fighting for Certainty in an Age of Deception by John MacArthur
Buy new: $15.63 / Used from: $1.69
Here is another criticism of the "emerging church" movement. Chapters 3-5 are actually a good discussions of what "apostasy" or believing in false beliefs consists of and keeping our faith pure. Read McLaren's Generous Orthodoxy before reading chpts 1,2, & 6. My only criticism is that he quotes "emerging leaders" rather loosely and out of context.
