The Li6500-2WXVP MicroTalk radios utilize the UHF/FM band for ultra-clear, long-distance reception with an extended range capability that reaches up to 20 miles, depending upon the terrain. These units feature an illuminated LCD display that is easily visible at a glance even at night, 10 separate call alerts to differentiate between incoming callers, and an on/off selectable roger-beep tone that indicates the completion of other transmissions so you know when it is ok to talk. These radios also feature an auto squelch with a selectable maximum range extender that overrides the auto squelch for longest-possible reception, a keystroke tone signal that confirms key activation, and a patented VibrAlert for silent incoming calls in noisy or all-quiet environments. bad for headsets
if you want a decent headset one that works with a helmet for get it because this has a single pin connection and helmet headsets all that i found were two pin connections the radio itself works greats but not much in the line of helmet headsets

Very good quality, difficult control
I am very well pleased with these, but I would have appreciated a more prominant notification that HIGH power and most channels require an FCC license, which cost me $80!
Also, the control could be better. Switching from standby to weather radio, for instance, requires repeated pushing of the 'mode' button.
The power is good, but apparently is line-of-site, as I could not reach home today from two miles away with intervening hills.
But they will work for what we intend with them -

"Please pull up to the next window."
Bought these for a cruiseship. Tested them out at home. Had real trouble communicating. We couldn't make out what each other was saying. Never got to test range so cant make a judgment on that.

I did, however, have a good laugh trying to get my wife to understand me saying " You want fries with that?". Now I really feel for the people working at drive-though windows. Although they sound a LOT clearer than these units.

Makes it double hilarious that I bought them at "Fry's".
