They work
They do not have a 22 mile range but are better than some we already have. Battery life is good, lasted all day.

Exactly what I was looking for
These worked fantastic on the slopes. I've used Motorola radios before, and they just didn't have the range or the clarity I needed. This Cobra set not only conveniently includes lith-ion batteries, but they are incredibly clear, even when separated by miles of snow terrain. Not only are the transmissions clear, but the speakers themselves are bright and distortion-free, with no howling even at high volumes. The call buttons were also great, as it allows you to "feel" a page even when the device is buried in heavy pockets. Absolutely perfect for what I wanted, I don't think I'll ever need to buy any other radios (except more of these!).

Good radios, sensitive to terrain as always
I find we have less communication problems with FRS instead of GMRS (hope I got my acronyms right). Good distance unless there's a small hill in the way. Rain-sensitive also.
