Splurge (though I bought mine second hand). My #2 slept in this for her first 3 months. I rarely even swung it for either child - just watching the motion of the fishes overhead and the wave sounds put them straight to sleep.

Splurge. This is the ONLY receiving blanket to buy. It's actually big enough to swaddle your baby for more than a couple of weeks. All of the other ones on the market they will outgrow. And the velcro-type ones will "chew up" everything else in your washing machine.... I made that mistake!

Splurge - I have this in addition to my electric pump. Great for doing before you go to bed at night, or anywhere where you don't want a big hassle setting up and making any noise. I even put it in my small purse and brought to a black tie dinner when baby was 4 weeks old and I needed to nurse/pump every couple of hours.

Splurge (maybe not the whole set though). The 2-in-1 soap stuff smells wonderful! It lasts forever (over 1 year). I got mine as a gift, have loved it.

Splurge - these are a few dollars more than other bottles, but worth it. But don't waste money on the 4 oz size - get the bigger ones and don't fill them as much. Clean easily in the dishwasher or sink, stand up well (have lasted both babies). I have adapters I got at babycenter.com so I can pump right into the bottles. Totally worth it.

Splurge. For some reason, mine still looks (and functions like) new after nearly 3 years. It goes nicely with a beige auto interior, is comfortable, easy to use... my kids are on the small side, though - you may want to look at other Britax models if you have big babies. I think this pattern is great becuase it could be used for a girl or boy (think use over the years).

Skimp - this one is just fine ($10 is plenty to spend). All you need is something until they can sit up on their own. Then, bathe them in the kitchen sink. This is perfect - tucks away easily.

Splurge - these are the best newborn diapers... good diapers = fewer leaks = less laundry! These are essential if you have a baby boy.

Splurge - this was essential for me - I could pump while working on my computer which made the time fly! This thing looks ridiculous in the photos but it works great (in real life, you just slip it on under your shirt and bra).

splurge - if you're planning on having more than 1 kid (in close succession), don't waste your money on an expensive single stroller, get a double (you can put your bags in the second side until you have baby #2!). This one is great, fits through a regular doorway and rides like a charm. Relatively lightweight and really high quality.
