Comment Caveat: [Right off the bat! I bought mine at T-Mobile when I was there setting up new phone service. And I paid about thirty-five smackers. Seeing Amazon sell them for about seventy clams casts a whole different light on the various issues people have described in other reviews. The "value" equasion for me is quite a bit different, since I feel like they were a bargain. But the advertised and list prices are totally disproportional to the coolness factor of this product.]
These headphones are "da bomb." (Not an expression I use lightly!) Never in my life had I danced around my room listening to my most bombastic beats without one of two things happening:
1. The neighbors calling the police.
2. Becoming wrapped tightly in a spiders-web of headphone wires, promptly causing me to stop dancing and go back to taking life too seriously.
Without wires, I can twist and roam and run arround freely, all over the same floor as my BT MP3 player. Even if I get sick of a song, the headphones have built in forward-track/back-track buttons, saving me having to return to the player. Just tap on my temples and I'm on to the next bump. I can also control volume, and pause.
The sound quality is a 3.9, where 5 is auditory orgasm and 1 is soup cans avec string. The volume can't get too-too crankin', but is more than loud enough to drown out the sound of neighbors hitting ceiling below with broomstick, police sirens, or the scornful laughter of tight-bums who can't appreciate a white man dancing in his underwear.
I've used my headset for hours and hours now and still have not recharged it. I guess that means, "The batteries last a long time." I look forward to streaming the next Hare-Krishna worship session from Brookly (6 hours long) and dancing through the whole darn thing...
Realizing I need to provide some serious review, I'll toss you all these bones:
Pros: Very good sound quality, pairs easily; pairs with everything I've thrown at it; runs a long time without recharging; light and comfortable to wear; simple controls built in; work well even at moderate distance from BT source.
Cons: A little "delicate" when traveling and not in use - they can't be wrapped around your iPod a few times like earbuds - you need to really pack them carefully; unable to reach sadistic levels of loudness; made by Motorola, who is likely to shutter the division that makes these at some point in 2008-9; not really cut out for use as telephone headset - it's possible, and OK once in a while, but regular callers will complain; silly flashing light that makes you look cool if you are under 14 years old, but really insecure if you are over 30.
Keep reading the other reviews here to see a lot of the other things I'm leaving out, both good and bad. And know that if you can get these for less than fourty, they are awesome. More that that, and they quickly sucumb to gadget fever and die an ugly death as an overpriced "contraption."
Awesome ... When It Works
I really enjoyed these headphones until they stopped working.
The design is stylish and minimalist and the sound quality rivals that of wired headsets. I'm very active, so I want a headset that I can use to listen to tunes while working out or running. I connected these to my cell phone for music and calls.
After about a week of taking these everywhere, the volume turned itself all the way down and the buttons stopped working. This rendered the headphones useless. My joy at having found such a cool product turned into disappointment as I read about the similar experiences of others. Apparently this is a somewhat common occurence with these. I returned my Motorola MOTOROKR S9 bluetooth headphones for a refund.
Motorola needs to take responsibility for this defect and issue a recall. Until then, I can not recommend this product. I suggest shopping around for products from other manufacturers.
High price, cheap product
Avoid these headphones at all costs. With less than 2 weeks of wear, my headphone's volume controls now do not work and the headset automatically skips "back" to the previous track - constantly - so no music can be played.
Outside, the reception is poor, and the only place my cellphone can be placed in order to connect with the headset is directly in the middle of my lower back - somewhat less than an ideal place.
My headset will be returned ASAP.
