From the Manufacturer
The most affordable of Canon’s long telephoto zooms, this lens is excellent for subjects from portraits to wildlife and nature. It shares the same 13-element optical system as the 75-300mm USM lens, but uses a DC motor for autofocus. Close-focusing down to 4.9 feet (1.5m) allows filling the frame (at 300mm) with a subject the size of a dollar bill, and it’s compatible with the Canon 58mm Close-up lens 500D for even more spectacular shots of small objects.
Isolate the Interesting Part
The eye tends to see the whole rather than the individual parts. It also sees what’s near and not what’s far. By bringing attention to those things missed by the eye, you can create many interesting pictures. It could be the grimace of an athlete, the grill of a classic car, or a girl against a blurred background. Telephoto lenses can also compress images to give dramatic effects. You are limited only by your imagination.
Customer Reviews
Awesome!
This is an awesome lens. I am able to get close without really being close to the object. The photo still looks crisp and clear. I use this lens all the time. I recommend this lens to anyone that is into photography.
Great! -This lens took action shots.
My husband and I were recently on a trip along the Oregon coast and to view the Giant Redwoods of California. We bought this lens to go along with our Canon Rebel TSi 12 megapixel camera. Some have said they could not take action shots with it but I have great photos of sea gulls in flight and the waves as they crest, curl, and crash on the beach. You can see the feathers on the birds. I also took photos of the ocean crashing against rocks and they are so clear you can see the outer water droplets. We also bought a High-speed SD memory disk which could have helped with the photos. I would recommend this lens.
Works pretty well.
I'm not too sure if this one is up to par as my buddy's 70-300mm. It does get the job done.
