very impressive selection of accomodations4
I've seen this on the local PBS station. The first thing that I noticed is the way the program shows both the man-made and the handiwork of nature. They complement each other. Also, there is a large variety of facilities described, from rustic to sophisticated. I've been to several of the lodges in years past and this program gives an excellent presentation of those that I've visited.

The reason I gave this 4 stars is because the program could have shown even more of the natural wonders of western Canada- guess they felt the buildings took precedence. In any event, I'm buying this set, 'cause I plan to visit Banff & Jasper Parks next summer & I'm researching!

Don't miss Canada5
I've been watching all of the Great Lodges series over the years, and own most of the books. This is a favorite. You should check out the companion book...it has even more lodges than the series features. The only real change from when it was published is that Fairmont bought many of the big hotels. The Travel Guide in the back of the book may be a bit dated, but it's easy to get info on the web. And the DVD is wonderful.

Instant vacation5
This is one of my favorite DVDs of all time, and I have many. The scenery in this DVD will calm you and relax you. My favorite part is Part Two (there are 2 parts on one DVD disc), especially the two smaller and most remote lodges, Twin Falls Chalet and Lake O'Hara Lodge. I also have given this as a gift to family members. It is very wonderful. I lived in Canada in 1971 and 1972 and visited the Banff Springs Hotel and Lake Louise, but have not visited the other lodges in this DVD. The Prince of Wales Hotel has always looked like a fascinating place to visit.
