"My Name is Not Monkey Girl" serves as a tremendous resource for parents, teachers, grandparents, schools and libraries alike. It was written with the aim of teaching children the importance of unconditional kindness, patience, love, tolerance and compassion. And inspired after a child called Candace a monkey girl. At the time, Candace was approaching her to play.
Author Miriam Jacobs is on a mission. The five-time author recently announced that she has set out to raise funds for facial reconstructive surgeries for her 8 year-old granddaughter, Candace. Along the way, she is promoting tolerance, education, and compassion for those who have Giant Congenital Nevus; a rare skin disorder that Candace was born with.

My Name Is Not Monkey Girl
This is a refreshing children's book full of, happy lively paintings, intimate family pictures, a good story line and information. Kids want to know how to interact with people who look different. They are not born with this knowledge and I am so glad to see a book like this. It gives parents a chance to read and discuss with their kids how to be an accepting, loving friend. It is told by the little person who has been shunned by her peers. Candace bravely tells us of her need for friendship. Her positive approach to her own trials will draw many friends to herself and teach many valuable lessons. My grandchildren love it and took it to school where it was a great hit with classmates.

My Name is Not Monkey Girl
What a Wonderful Amazing Child Candace is!
I am not Too sure of Many Adults that Would Have the Courage to be able to go through what this Child has in her short Young Life, and Still Have Such a Positive Out look and Compassion for Humanity.
This Book is "A MUST" for all Parents with Children,Grandchildren,
Nieces, and Nephews. It is a Way to allow Children to know that No Matter What Differences we Have We are all the Same. God Creates us in our own Unique way. It is then Up to "US" to Choose how we use that Uniqueness!
I have had the Opportunity to Become Friends with Both Candace and Miriam L. Jacobs. What a Blessing!
Great Children's Book
"My Name is NOT Monkey Girl," is a GREAT book that I believe all children she read or be read to. I like everything about this book; storyline, illustrations, and information. This book teaches kids acceptance of those who are considered to be different. It teaches kids to be accepting of their own difference, it is okay to be different.
