good deal but items are oddly chosen
Overall, this package is a good deal. The 2GIG memory card, extra battery, tripod and everything else are definitely handy.

However, some of the enclosed items are oddly chosen. For example, one of the main reasons I chose this kit rather than buying items individually was because of all the little extras, such as the screen protectors. However, the largest size screen protector is too small for the display screen, leaving about 1/4 inch on each side exposed and unprotected.

Also, two carrying cases are included. The one shown (gray and black) is **way** too large for the camera. There is about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch of extra space in each direction. I can fit all my fingers on one hand inside with room to spare. I'm not kidding, you could fit at least two of the SD1000s inside at the same time and still have room for a small item. By itself, the camera just doesn't seem very secure inside the case. Even if you wanted to use it, because it is so much larger than the camera it defeats the purpose of buying a camera this small anyway. The second case does fit the camera. I find it disappointing, as one of the other selling points for me was the attractiveness of the case shown. The other one that actually fits the camera has no style whatsoever. I believe my first impression was "ugly as sin." It's just a basic black leather-ish case with a hole on the top that seems to be almost the same size as the stop on the cord, so it stops it and prevents you from taking the camera out quickly.

If I had to buy it over again, I would probably still go with this kit because it seems less expensive than buying each item individually. Knowing what I know now, I would have also ordered some screen protectors that actually fit and maybe even a case that both fits and looks good. Everything else seems to be a good fit and the cleaning kit was especially well received.

Oh, caution, the tripod is cool, but when they say mini tripod, they really mean it! It's probably only four or five inches tall, but still quite convenient.

Great camera! I have an SD600 Canon that takes very clear pictures and is very easy to use and wanted to get my daughter the same one. However, it is no longer available and I believe the SD1000 is the newer version. I purchased this camera as a gift to my daughter, who never takes pictures and never wanted a camera, but a wedding and a trip to Rome seemed to warrant this purchase. She has said it takes wonderful pictures and is thrilled to have it! To pay further tribute to the SD1000, the professional wedding photographer asked for a copy of one of my daughter's pictures! The 2GB accessory kit was a must! It allowed her to shoot an almost endless amount of pictures. Highly recommend this camera and kit.
