Average customer review:Product Description
On this second of three DVDs in the Matte Surface rendering series, Scott shares with you the round geoform shading techniques he has been teaching for over a decade. He explains and demonstrates the basics of how our brains interpret round forms via value changes. Scott uses observational video clips of a cylinder, cone and sphere in various lighting scenarios to reinforce his value assignment strategy. Walking you through several sketches, he shows his techniques for properly constructing the cast shadows of each of the round geoforms. At the end of the DVD, Scott renders a more complex form (shown on the cover) from start to finish, demonstrating the use of pencil, chalk and marker. This DVD is intended as a "must-watch" for beginners and a good refresher for the more experienced artist/designer.

Editorial Reviews
Review
Definitely one of the finer designers of our generation. Scott's innovative designs bridge the gap between today's fiction and tomorrow's science. His attention to detail is sometimes mind blowing... but he is not somebody to keeps it all to himself. He is so concerned with teaching his knowledge to others that it makes him one of the top educators in digital and traditional art. --Harald Belker - Concept Designer

Customer Reviews
There's nothing else like this out there.
Demonstrations and clear explanations are the best way to learn how to draw, and these DVDs are filled with them. Scott is Almost intimidatingly good at what he does, but if you do the exercises and stick with the program that he describes you will improve dramatically. The only drawback is that he has a mild monotone, so don't watch these while you are sleepy. His voice might be a bit dull but the content of these DVDs are very exciting. Thumbs up!!!
Excellent resource for design rendering techniques.
Robertson continues with his chain of clear, concise and exceptionally helpful series of DVDs and Books. This one teaches exactly what it says it teaches. If you're like me, you'll end up watching it dozens of times to absorb the extreme density of helpful information and techniques. You might also want to consider his book, How to Draw Cars the Hot Wheels Way as a companion, as it has relevant rendering samples to this DVD.
