Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal
Grade 2-6–A collection of jokes, riddles, wordplay, and tongue twisters, all liberally mixed with advice on how to become a comedian. Most of the bits are funny and age appropriate. However, some selections deal with times, places, or people that won't be familiar to the target audience. The volume sports a punchy contemporary design that utilizes black-and-white photography, clip art, and a plethora of fonts and type sizes. While the author sometimes puts being class clown above schoolwork and getting good grades, the book is overall a helpful look into the life of a budding performer. Children will love it because of the wealth of material within it. Leno tells them to use it freely and advises them to learn from watching and listening to others, but to create their own material.–Cynde Suite, Bartow County Library System, Adairsville, GA

Good inspiration for aspiring young comics4
Jay's jokes are geared to the 8 to 12 year-old and mostly ones I hadn't heard before. However, the real gold in this book is his side commentary about how to be a comedian. These are very inspirational. My 12 year-old read it cover to cover.

my son enjoyed this book4
My son received this book as a gift when he was 10. He doesn't take to books real well but he really enjoyed this one. He rereads it often. I would recommend it for any child who strives to be funny.

DON'T LET YOUR KIDS READ THIS!1
The trend of celebrities penning books for children reaches its nadir with this one. There is nothing funny or interesting or the least bit intriguing about this book. I thought as an adult, maybe I'm out of the loop. Let me show it to some kids. So I did. And they hated it!

Jay Leno can't make adults laugh, let alone children. The book is also in bad taste. Some of the jokes here woujld be offensive to children with their innuendo. What in the world were they thinking when they published this?

I wish I could give it zero stars!
