Average customer review:
This isn't specifically about homeschooling, but it is heartening to read about a large Catholic family - not perfect but realistic.

Disappointing.1
Usually I love books in this genre - Catholic mothers writing about their experiences, encouraging the rest of us along in our grand vocation as mothers of many children. This one was disappointing, however - it just wasn't written well. The book was a series of vignettes (sort of) of life, and while many of them were funny (she obviously tries to write with lots of humor) none of them held together with any cohesion. There was no overall arch to the book, no story, sometimes it seemed that there was no point. I couldn't ever figure out where she was going with the little bits of humor, and by the time I got to the end I realized that she never went anywhere. For mothers who need real encouragement in their vocation, I'd recommend Holly Pierlot or Danielle Bean instead.

Didn't finish it... 2
My wonderful hubby brought this home from a retreat at Steubenville University for me. He usually picks exceptional books for me and I very much look forward to reading his seletions, but this one was a flop. I read the first few chapters and realized I was not finding it funny. So, I skipped ahead and read a few more... I still did not find it funny.

I found the humor to be a combination of whine and slap stick - neither of which I appreciate.

Sorry, I really wanted it to be funny.

All the best to you!

The most encouraging book ever5
I bought this book from the author two years ago at a homeschooling conference. I have re-read it hundreds of times...I almost know it by heart. The book describes the life of a Catholic Home-Schooling mom and it is full of the author's wonderful sense of humor. She makes us think and see the beauty of life. I would recommend that everybody buys this book for their daughters, mothers, friends. It is a must for any Catholic family library.
