Customer Reviews
Etymotic headset is a 5 star choice!
Great headset! The earpeice takes a bit of getting used to, but once you become familiar with the 'in the ear' design, the reward is an extremely clear conversation... even in noisy environments. I often participate in long conference calls that, due to time zone consraints, must be taken in my car. The noise cancelling microphone eliminates all nackground noise from being transmitted to the distant end. Those at the other end of the line often assume I am sitting in my office, not a moving vehicle. The I can't say enough to express how clear and natural the sound is (both sending and receiving) when using this headset.
The last headset you will ever buy.
I spend a lot of time on my cell phone, particularly in my car. I tried dozens of different headsets before spending the extra money on this one. Prior to this, the Jabra Earboom was the best one I found in both comfort and sound. That said, the sound was actually just mediocre--but since many others make you sound like you are calling from the airport, mediocre is actually good.
The package includes a bunch of different ear tips--foam, and several earplug styles in different sizes. I have teeny tiny ear canals and none of them worked for me. Ety Com will mold you an earbud for a nominal fee if you go to a local audiologist and spend about $5 to have an ear impression made. Once that is done, you have a custom tip and this headset will be comfortable even if you use it for several hours.
The sound quality is superb. It is better than any other headset by far; nobody knows I am on a headset and the noise blocking is fantastic. You can speak normally even when you have to contend with a lot of background noise and your voice comes through loud and clear.
The only thing I would say could improve this product is some kind of cordwinder for storage. Other than that, it is flawless and yes, it really is worth the money.
Only Usable In Ear Headset
I travel every week and have gone through dozens of headsets from every manufacturer. I find that either the first person I call asks me to get off the headset because the quality is so bad or it works well for a few weeks and then breaks. I actually traveled with a full Plantronics headset in my bag which made me look like a secretary that is on his lunch break and forgot to take off his headset.
One of my customers turned me onto the Etymotic Research 4P for my Ipod and while I was ordering it I found the cellular headset. I figured that if this was half the quality of their music headphones then it was worth the money.
First you will figure out which earpiece fits best and then you will get used to pulling on your ear while you insert the headset to get the best seal. Make sure you moisten the headset tip before you stick it in your ear. OK, I know that this is the gross but it will be worth it in a minute. The headset feels a bit wobbly in your ear but it is fine.
Now the best part. The quality is perfect!!! I get comments such as "I can't tell you aren't on your landline." Also, I can hear the conversation perfectly since the sound is barrelling down my ear. I usually have the volume turned up all the way but I don't have too on this headset.
Again, the quality is great. You can tell that it is made with high quality and I will lose it well before it breaks. It has a nice carrying case so I don't have to have a jumble of wires in my computer case.
Enjoy!
