Product Description
A true hybrid because they match the slipon ease of a thong with the performance characteristics of a toe loop style sport sandal, the Chaco Zong women's sandal even offers hybrid styling. On one hand the toe loop sans heel strap offers a fashionable alternative to common strap configurations, yet on the other hand the black sole, complete with Vibram outsole, lends a utilitarian look. Overall, this makes for a truly unique look. Hidden underneath the surface, The Chaco Zong sandal's pullthrough straps offer micro adjustment capability for the perfect fit or the option for a loose, slipon fit when all you want to do is tae the trash out. The Chaco Zong sandal also features a BioCentric footbed contour that concentrates the fatty pads in the heel for optimum cushioning and encourages neutral positioning of the foot for healthy biomechanics throughout the stride.

Mixed Feelings
My first few "dates" with these Chacos didn't go so well... I ended up with blisters on the top of my feet and the straps on the top of my foot loosened while walking, causing the toe loop to tighten (I have since "solved" this problem by flattening the toe loop)... not so pleasant. As much time as I have spent in denial and then in acceptance of the somewhat poor design I am now in love with them (maybe because they leave you with cool tan lines???).
If this is your first pair of Chacos, I'd suggest trying them on at a store before purchasing them online and fit 'em to your arch... you'll be much happier. I'd also suggest trying a different style first, maybe one with a heal strap, or w/out the toe loop.
I love them, but they don't love me.
I have a love/hate relationship with these shoes. I've wanted a pair for a long time, and was disappointed when I finally indulged. I have a problem with the straps tightening around my big toe as I walk. Chaco, however, is sending me a new pair in a different style for free to replace them. Apparently, this happens to some people because of the way they walk, so they are very accomodating in replacing the shoes with a style that doesn't wrap around the toe. Way to go, Chaco! That's customer service! I did wear them backpacking in Europe and they were great. The style is great because you wear them with pants, shorts, or skirts/dresses and they go with everything. I am looking forward to my new ones and am hoping to have a better relationship with them.
wonderful fit!
I just bought my 2nd pair of this style today. I love these sandals. They travel well, walk well, are used on trails and in the shower on trips. The strap system keeps your foot in the foot bed, no sliding. I would not do strenuous trail hiking in them. The arch is terrific and I can walk all day and my feet DO NOT hurt. I have plantar fascitis and these sandals have kept me pain free because of the arch.
