Great electric grill!
I just purchased the Veranda Electric Grill. I've owned two outdoor electric grills before, and this is by far the best. It was extremely easy to assemble; just put in six screws and you're good to go. Also, it is the sturdiest and best looking of the grills I've owned. The others looked rather junky, but this one is very sleek and modern looking.
The hood is attached, which is a big plus. You don't have to set it on the ground while adding or turning your meat. The Verana has a built in thermometer, it heats quickly and gets hotter than my previous two. The food tastes just like food grilled on gas.
Like most electric grills, it doesn't have an attached tray to set things on. The only downside to this grill is that there are no directions to tell at what temperature to cook various foods or for how long. There are a couple of recipes included, so I used them as a guide. Then I contacted the company and was told to grill chicken and burgers on low or medium and steak on medium or high. A chart like the one included with the George Foreman would have been helpful, but I still love this grill!
Great Grill!!!
This is a great grill for anyone who is tired of the hassels associated w/a gas grill. This is built solid and can be unpacked and assembled ready for use within 10-15 mins.It comes in 3 sections- you put them together and tighten 6 screws, put on grate and your ready to go! The lid on this grill IS HINGED! Unlike the CharBroil elec.Patio model that you have to take off and set somewhere(REMEMBER-its HOT!!). This grill has a large grease trap tray that slides into the base below grill and is easy to remove and clean. The CharBroil has a flimsy catch aluminum can hanging below grill on wire. I found myself having to move food around on gas grills due to uneven cooking. This has NOT been an issue on this grill. I also got tired of replacing the cheap ignitors and burner units in gas grill every year. My father has been using electric grills for years and I decided I had enough of the gas. So far I am very pleased. The food tastes very good. Best price by far online is from QVC. QVC price is $137.52 plus s&h and tax.. My total came to $166.31. Hope this helps those looking into this grill..My father is now going to replace his CharBroil for this grill.
Worthless Grill
Several years ago we ordered a Masterbuilt Electric Veranda Grill from QVC. It looked great and would heat to about 450-500F but then promptly cool down. You could get a semi-decent sear on meat if you opened the lid, quickly threw the meat on and slammed the lid shut. Over time it started to lose heating capacity so we ordered a replacement heating element and plug. However, this did not help so we figured something internally was worn out. We just ordered a new unit from Amazon. It arrived today and after I spent 30 minutes assembling it noticed it was more cheaply constructed that the previous grill. I then plugged it in. It will not heat above 325F. I just discovered today that there is a hidden but major design flaw in these units. When the top is closed there is a gap in the back from which the heat escapes. Amazon has notified me that they will send UPS to pick up the unit.
