Customer Reviews

Works 1st time out of the box5
This product worked exactly as advertised right out of the box. I ruined a weekend trying to get the Western Digital My DVR to work with my Scientific Atlanta 8300HD box and my DVR never recognized it. This hard drive worked perfectly with my Cablevision Scientific Atlanta 8300HD box. I followed the directions exactly which was a piece of cake. I plugged it in and connected the ESATA cable to the DVR, powered on the Hard Drive via the power switch and my cable box recognized it within like 15 seconds and brought up the format screen. It formatted very quickly and my percentage of used memory dropped from 61% to 9%, bingo done! The Western Digital MY DVR hard drive never was recognized by my DVR and I had contacted customer support from both Cablevision and Western Digital and nothing worked; rebooting, having the cable company send over the cable an update for my box, etc, etc- nothing worked and believe me I was ready to smash that hard drive to pieces as it was my intent to record the Super Bowl and luckily I had enough space on my DVR's hard drive to record it. If you have cablevision in NJ and have the scientific atlanta 8300HD, this is the way to go. It took my maybe 10 minutes in total to get this out of the box and up and running with no anger or wasted time. Two huge thumbs up!!!!!

Cant keep up with the DVR2
This drive will drop small portions of recordings (2-5 seconds), and will get behind on playback as well. I am using it with a Directv HR22. I am returning it to get a Seagate or WD.

Fantastic Expander5
I researched most of the DVD expanders out there. I ended up purchasing this one and I am very pleased. Followed the instructions, 30 seconds later up and running. When power is lost will state a message, just wait and no problems. My dvr went from 97% to 12% in seconds, Great. I am purchasing another for my other dvr.
