The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of TimeThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Buy used from: $17.49
This game actually got me in trouble with my family at Xmas time - I played it NON STOP. I've also completed it over 5 times.
Silent Hill 2Silent Hill 2
Buy new: $69.99 / Used from: $13.49
This title got SO many things right. Taking everything good from Silent Hill, making a very obvious jump in graphics, adding fantastic character development and story - this game quite literally embodied EVERYTHING I enjoy about gaming.
Shadow of the ColossusShadow of the Colossus
Buy new: $19.99 / Used from: $14.00
This game is EPIC. Graphically speaking- there are some tech issues to be found here (glimmer, anyone?) But what it lacked in graphical clarity it MORE than made up for in SHEER BEAUTY. This game is gorgeous, simple and absolutely heart-wrenching. If you don't feel your emotions starting to swell during this game play then you should ditch your system...because you're probably dead.
Final Fantasy VIIIFinal Fantasy VIII
Buy new: $19.99 / Used from: $11.86
I get a LOT of flack for enjoying FF8 more than FF7 BUT I REFUSE TO LISTEN - absolutely AMAZING graphics (for the time), adult sized character design (no chibis here!) which match the adult theme of the story and does justice to the romance which underlays this game of sacrifice and coming of age. Sadly under-appreciated.

Simple, breath-taking,challenging and completely addictive ICO is the first title in Team ICO's trifecta: ICO, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian. This title has a much deserved (and quite rabid) fan following.
Fable IIFable II
Buy new: $27.99 / Used from: $15.00
A surprise hit for me. I didn't think I was going to like it but then about an hour in, I was HOOKED. You might find that it doesn't live up to Molyneux's hype, but then again, what does? Give this one a shot-it's quite fun.
BioShockBioShock
Buy new: $18.99 / Used from: $10.86
The art style alone is more than enough of a reason to pick up this title. Isn't the perfect game ever but still highly entertaining and one of the only FPSs I've enjoyed on a consul.
Silent HillSilent Hill
Buy used from: $29.98
One of the scariest games I ever played. So scary in fact, that I actually had to call my friends on my cell when I was playing by myself because I got freaked out way too much.
Mass EffectMass Effect
Buy new: $19.99 / Used from: $13.09
A little repetitive and tedious at times but you should be able to get past that rather quickly when all the positive come into play. Expansive landscapes, astounding voice acting, diverse customization and just plain awesome outer space stuff - this game has quickly become a personal fave.
Street Fighter IIStreet Fighter II
Buy used from: $3.49
The ultimate fighting title from Capcom. A classic if there ever was one! FYI: This is the first SF title where Chun-Li made an appearance
Mario Kart 64Mario Kart 64
Buy used from: $27.76
The best. Hands down.
Sonic AdventureSonic Adventure
Buy new: $39.98 / Used from: $14.50
The only Sonic game I've ever liked....nay...LOVED. I played HOURS and hours of this. I even collected and raised a little tamagotchi-esque pet Chao. Oh, Dreamcast - I heart you SOOOO much.
Street Fighter IVStreet Fighter IV
Buy new: $27.99 / Used from: $21.74
A re-visit/homage to Street Fighter II. Incorporates updated graphics for the current-gen but still stays true to the heart of the franchise!
Soul CaliburSoul Calibur
Buy used from: $7.74
After Street Fighter, the next great fighting game for me was Soul Calibur. While some hard-core fighting fans have had some issues with it (button-mashiny pops into mind) it is still one heck of a fighting game. Smooth and seamless movements only adds to the allure of each and every character.
Resident EvilResident Evil
Buy new: $49.99 / Used from: $13.99
The King of all zombie games. With loading screens that weren't just black and blank voids on your television, terrifying zombies that quite literally made you jump in your seat and mind-ending puzzles - this game was the start of something new (and pretty terrifying).
Left 4 DeadLeft 4 Dead
Buy new: $27.99 / Used from: $19.83
Zombie survival and achievement collecting - what's not to like. A straight-forward shooter/survival game which equates to loads of mindless fun.Get this game for the co-op online multi-player. Single player is a tad "meh."
RezRez
Buy new: $69.99 / Used from: $19.00
Fun and incredibly unique this title is a little bit retro, emo, techie and indie kid all wrapped up in a nice tiny disc for the PlayStation 2. Worth owning just for it's strangeness and that nice little vibrating attachment it had been released with ;).
