Product Description
Most Unique Top In The World For Weather Resistance. This Kettler Aluminum Outdoor Table Tennis Table is manufactured by Kettler in Germany. Its exclusive 7/8" (2.2cm) aluminum composition top is stronger than any wood, more consistent than fiberglass, less than half the weight of wood and 100% waterproof, too! That special press fuses a heavy-gauge top sheet, waffled back sheet and 1" (2.5cm) square edge-support channels into an aluminum shell. The shell is formed around a special treated and protected high-density composite core. The top surface is then coated with an electro-static powder-epoxy enamel bright white markings on a non-glare green background. Bounce response is so perfect its the only non-wood table top sanctioned for international tournament play. The Roll-Away/Playback Stockholm moves effortlessly on lockable 4-3/4" (12.1cm) industrial casters. Triangular-designed center transport base is of high-impact-resistant resin. Oversized legs move automatically during folding into half open playback position, or fully closed. Tournament net posts are integrated into the unit. Each has an individual thumb-wheel net tensioner. Cord-suspended net included. Shipped knocked down with simple assembly instructions. Stockholm Green. Assembly required.

High quality Kettler Baltic blue weatherproof outdoor table tennis table
I am commenting on a related product: the Kettler Baltic weatherproof outdoor table tennis table, in blue. Outdoor table tennis table is an ingenious invention. Kettler makes very high quality outdoor tables. The table top is encased in aluminum. The Baltic table we bought was the least expensive in Kettler's product line but the different Kettler tables appear to have the same table top (except for the color) and the main difference seems to be the support system. The bounce is surprisingly decent and consistent even though it may be short of Olympic standard. We live in a place with mild weather all year round so I cannot speak for those whose backyard is covered with snow for several months of a year. The Kettler table definitely sustains the sun and some rain. We set it up on the concrete patio in the backyard and leave it open all the time. Please note if you store it in the folded position (covered with Kettler's protective cover or not), you need to stow it away so that it does not present a safety concern for children. As the patio is surrounded by green plants, the blue color stands out and is probably the better choice for outdoor tables in general. One more tip: the blue table works best with orange balls, which are easier to see during play and easier to spot from a distance when they are hidden in the bushes. We bought the Baltic table at a local store with a good price, so shop around - an outdoor table generally costs more than an indoor table of a similar quality.
Update on Nov. 1, 2009: We have had this for almost a year now. It still works great - no problem so far. We kept it open all the time in the backyard.
So so
The very first year, the orange plactic bars that you see in the picture broke off. Had to use the remaining nub to open and close the table. Net plastic guides also broke the second year. The surface was faded and became totally splotchy by the third year. The surface it self remained flat and playable. The wheels don't move well and the table is clunky. The cover tore immediately. We had it 5-6 years and then another key part broke (all plastic) and had to put it out with the trash. I had hoped for better life from something that cost me 600.
What you want to watch out is that all the moving parts should be metal not plastic as they in this table.
