Avoid
Product left strong odor of taste and plastic in the water. Problem lingered after filling and flushing over a dozen times and soaking overnight in vinegar. Considering that the product was made in China, I suspect that it was not made with food-grade plastic.

Dealing with the marketplace vendor was also extremely disappointing. Getting the product returned and a refund issued took four phone calls and three weeks. I ended up paying the shipping cost both ways which was equal to one third of the purchase price. In the future I will be avoiding: Sunpentown, Unbeatable Deals, and Amazon marketplace orders. It's not worth the hassle. Very disappointed.

Hot needs
Overall, this is very attractive to go with the "stainless steel" look. the only complaint is that the 208 degrees setting can't be correct - not really 208, more like 175-180. But this aside, it serves its purpose and is relatively cheaper than most at this capacity. We've had this for a couple of weeks and so far so good.

Absolutely agree with ItsRachel.

I bought this SPT 3.6L just before Christmas from Unbeatable Deals at Amazon. It arrived on time. However, when I used it, the hot water gets a very strong order of chemical taste. After washing, cleaning and rinsing it thoroughly many many times in the last one month, the problem still exists. Therefore, I suspect that either the metal or the plastic meterial has harmful chemicals in it.

Now, I simply put this product aside. I was thinking about returning this product. After reading ItsRachel's experience, I've decided to not bother about returning. I'll just throw it into garbage, as I don't have time to make many unpleseant phonecalls and still have to pay the shipping fee (close to 40% of product cost). Not to say, I don't have the original boxes anymore.

In summary, don't buy Sunpentown.
