Great Tea Kettle
This kettle does what it's supposed to do: boil water and whistle loudly enough to get your attention no matter where you are or what you're doing. The only problem I have with it is that the lip of the opening is a bit abrasive. Care must be taken when washing out the inside of the kettle. If not for this drawback I would've given it five stars. It looks great sitting on my stove, and the Amazon price is the best I saw for it. On other web-sites they wanted from $66 to $103 for the pot.
Disappointed
I purchased this tea kettle to replace my Simplex Chrome tea kettle that I have owned since 2001. I ruined my Simplex teapot by cleaning the inside with vinegar and it stripped the tin lining down to the copper. Anyway, in my effort to save money, I purchased this tea kettle because it looked just like my Simplex which I loved. But that's where it ends. Sitting side by side and being stainless steel, the new pot isn't quite as pretty as the chrome pot. My Simplex still looked brand new on the outside. I used the new pot and it leaked around the spout. I called the company I purchased it from (CSN Store, but it is cheaper on Amazon now) and they very kindly and quickly replaced the pot. However, the second one leaked around the spout too so I decided to live with it. Another problem is that sometimes the ball gets stuck and plugs the spout when I'm pouring. Plus the lid is very difficult to remove. Now that I'm writing this I'm wondering how much longer I'm going to give myself to live with this tea kettle! Go the extra and purchase a Simpex teapot!
OK but built up a lot of residue and rust spots
This pot looks great. Over time it built up a lot of residue inside and dark spots on the outside. I don't have a lot of experience with teapots, so this could be true of any pot.
Outside of that the hardware held up nicely.
