Amazon.com Product Description
Enjoy healthy, great-tasting water straight from the tap with this three-stage faucet-mounted system. The horizontal faucet mount installs on any standard faucet in minutes and without tools. Its ingenious space-saving design allows for convenient access to the sink, while a handy bypass function makes it easy to quickly switch to unfiltered water when washing dishes. A built-in Automatic Safety Monitor gauge indicates how much filter life is left and automatically shows when a replacement is needed.
A filtration cartridge is included, providing advanced filtration in three stages. First, the microfilter reduces sediment, making it cleaner. Second, it reduces heavy metals (lead, mercury), chlorination by-products (TTHMs), agricultural pollutants (pesticides, herbicides), industrial pollutants (gasoline, additives), and 99.99-percent of the microbial cysts cryptosporidium and giardia, while retaining the beneficial fluoride in the water. Third, it filters the water over a bed of minerals, making it taste better. For best results, the filter should be changed every 100 gallons (approximately two to three months). The filter measures 2-1/4 by 2-1/4 by 4-1/2 inches, and the faucet mount measures approximately 3 by 5 by 6 inches and carries a five-year limited warranty.

Water Quality better than Hardware Quality
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3JLXQJN3W88V9 Video of the PUR 3-stage Faucet Mount Filter. Good water, bad hardware. We've owned 4 Faucet Mount filters. All of them leaked uncontrollably after 4-5 weeks. The filter outlasts the faucet mount in most cases.
Works fine for me
I purchased this filter about a year ago, and it works just fine.
Pros:
- Saves money over buying bottled water
- Convenient: don't have to lug bottled water into the house, and don't have to throw out the empty containers
- Decent looking: nice shiny chrome finish
- Filters last for many months, and are easy to replace (just buy online).
Cons:
- Filtered water pours out more slowly than unfiltered water. There is a switch to select filtered or unfiltered water. Unfiltered water will pour out as normal, but filtered water will pour out more slowly. To be exact, I just checked mine, and it pours at a rate of 1 fluid oz./sec. This will feel really slow at first, but since you probably do a lot of multitasking in the kitchen, you quickly get used to filling a container with water while you do something else for a few seconds.
- You are attaching a big thing on the end of your faucet: this reduces the clearance between your faucet and the bottom of the sink and may obstruct other sink activities that you currently take for granted. For me, this made it more difficult to clean or fill with water a tall pot that I like to use.
Hope this helps
The water tastes better
Just so you know, this filter isn't stainless steel, it's brushed plastic that looks like stainless steel. When I installed it the unit's adapter leaked constantly and I couldn't tighten it up enough to stop it. I returned it after that and exchanged it for the same model in "chrome" which is a few dollars cheaper but otherwise exactly the same unit. It still leaks a bit but my water tastes better now and doesn't have as much of a chlorine smell as it used to. There's still a trace of piped water taste but at least I feel better about drinking it knowing that most of the contaminants are filtered out. It's a great idea for temporary installations but is not as good as an undersink water filter. It's a little bulky for the faucet so it interferes with dishwashing and I miss my swivelling aerator which can't be attatched now. An undersink filter with spigot would serve much better for long term installations. All in all it's good for the price and the electronic filter life indicator is pretty neat! It's done wonders for my local water which is not great to begin with.
