Not Suitable for BMW 3 series
I bought this to use in my 3 Series (2003) BMW. No position on the dash kept the unit in place. At every move, the unit flew off the dash. Basically I think this design would only work on a flat level dash with a lip OR if you had carpet covering as I have seen on many vehicles here in California.

Works for a Grand Cherokee
This unit will not work for you if there is not a suitable spot on your dash. The Grand Cherokee (2003) has an indentation in the dash that this fits perfectly. If not for that, it would be slidung off the dash.

Magellan Dash Mount
The picture is deceiving, it standing upside down. The big round pads go on top of the dash or on the seat next to you. It does not move. I have a Toyota minivan and it sits on the dash very well. However you do need an attachment that came with Magellan to attach it to this mount.I was impressed how it stayed in place when I made turns. The base is made of a heavy rubber material that sticks to the dash.You can mold it to fit. Unless you are a taxi driver in New York, this should work.
