Its big, its bad
A towel holder that stands on its on merit, you can yank a towel out and it don't budge. Would have gotten 5 stars but getting the knob off the shaft that holds the towel was a real bear the first time -- had to use a channel lock plier and left some slight indents.

Well Intentioned Failure
At last the final solution to paper towels. Wrong. It looked so super, I bought it and wish I had not. It is sturdy and well made but it just does not work in the manner that one might expect. Well, at least it does not work well for this household. Paper continues to get stuck and not tear well. Thank goodness it is heavy or there would be a paper towel holder taking up space in the landfill. I readily admit to perhaps not doing it right but it just is not the device I wanted.

A Calphalon Kitchen Wouldn't Be Complete Without It!
After just spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on cookware I wanted something that was going to be out in the middle of my kitchen to catch people's eye - and this fit the bill nicely. I do wish the Calphalon logo was easier to read, but this thing just screams of quality from a distance. It just looks expensive, which was the look I was going for!
The stainless steel is unbendable, and a huge paper towel roll will fit into the top. However, I haven't quite figured out what's with the knob on top - a towel roll fits comfortably over it without having to take it off at all. And warning - don't grab this thing by just that knob! Although the knob on top fits securely and doesn't really come off easily, the base of this thing weighs so much it is bound to seperate if you pick it up just by the knob... and if that happens, your floor is bound to get a mark, or worse, you'll get a broken foot.
Pulling a paper towel with one hand is a snap, and my kitchen looks great thanks to Calphalon!
