From the Manufacturer
Youngsters will love learning phonics with lights, sounds and digital speech. The friendly firefly introduces letter recognition with the alphabet song. Game 2 teaches the names of letters; then game 3 quizzes letter recognition. Game 4 teaches the sound alphabet: the sound of ‘b’ is /b/ as in bear. Then game 5 quizzes letter sounds. Game 6 introduces simple three-letter words. In game 7, children make their own words. Phonics firefly’s word bank speaks nearly every three-letter word in the English language. Includes built-in speaker with volume control and auto shut-off. Includes four aa batteries. Geosafari phonics lab the perfect phonics teacher.

Best Phonics Toy I've Found
Too bad they have raised the price some (only about $10.00 though), However - I would pay that price as it is one of my favorite learning toys for children. My daughter played with this for years and eventually taught herself to read starting with Charlotte's Web at age 5 (her comprehension was low, but her ability to sound out the words was excellent for her age - and she persisted to the end). Of course, we didn't watch much T.V. when she was younger, but I really feel this toy deserves a great deal of the credit, and worked well for how my daughter prefers to learn. I highly, highly recommend it!
