Customer Reviews

Works Great4
We decided to try this after being disappointed with one of those flippable waffle irons. We're quite happy with the waffles we get from this iron. It seems to be well built, and the non-stick plates are of good quality - very easy to clean. There's no built-in timer, though.

Good iron, but dangerous design.3
I bought this item for my husband for Christmas because he likes to make waffles for our kids. I like the versatility of being able to make traditional belgian waffles and thinner heart-shaped ones (perfect for Valentine's day). My rating is reflective of my complaint with the design of this iron, and from the looks of it, all the other irons Villaware makes. The handle is very short, and because of its position, when you open up the hot iron, the steam rises straight up to your hand and forearm. This is so dangerous! I have been burnt by the steam, and so has my husband. Perhaps if the handle was telescoping, or even off-set on the sides of the iron, this wouldn't be an issue. Looks silly, but I now use an oven mitt when cooking waffles! I am still looking for that perfect belgian waffle recipe, but when I find it, I'm sure this iron will cook them up just perfectly.

Very Disappointing...and uneven waffles1
I make waffles practically every weekend and was very excited to get this new waffle maker. Especially one with removable plates. Hoping that the clean up would be easier. This product produced very disappointing waffles. The waffles were uneven top and bottom. The bottoms would come up nice and crisp, while the tops a little mushy and undercooked. At first I thought I just got a defective waffle maker, given just how many good reviews I heard regarding the villaware name. So I exchanged it for a new one, same exact model, and got the same unevenly cooked waffles. I had to set the temperature to its highest setting just to get the top fully cooked. But this just gave me a waffle that was overcooked on the bottom and still a bit mushy on the top. Even changed the recipt to what they recommended and got the same disappointing results. Not sure where the waffle pics associated with the product description came from, but it wasn't from this waffle maker.
