My New Favorite
I have been a long time Saucony pro-grid Ride user. Over the past 2 years I have been struggling with IT band syndrome, problems around my knee. I tried everything I could, from a foam roller (which really helped) to physical therapy (didn't help so much). Over time I found that, for me, it was an impact issue, the repeated stress caused by hitting the sidewalk over and over was a major contributer to my problem. I took the hard inserts out of my shoes and it got a little better.
That led me to these shoes. A friend who had been running for many years suggested a go with a more cushioned shoe like Mizuno. The impact was imediate. The very first run was a long run and I didn't even feel my IT getting irritated. I have had no flare ups since using this shoe. Basically...I'm back! These shoes are cushiony soft and very light. They do run a size large, usually I am an 11 1/2, I am wearing a 12 in these. I will continue to buy these shoes, as long as I run.
By the way, I still use the Saucony shoes. Taking the inserts out has helped them out dramatically, but these have a better feel.
Mizuno: Don't change a thing!!!!
Very solid shoe.
I've been running in these for about 2 weeks, and they feel GREAT. The arch support is much better than I've had in other shoes, and for a well-cushioned shoe, they are not too heavy. The solid midsole support has also helped me get past my Medial Shin Splints.
I will say, however, that because of the unique way that Mizuno does their cushioning, they are not for all runners: Anyone who is serious about running should make sure they get a proper fitting at a running shoe store like Fleet Feet.
MIZUNO WAVE RIDER 12...SWEET!!
Have worn the Rider for years..If you have a high arch are neutral or slight pronator..these will work..Mizuno is known for great heel to toe transition with all their shoes plus their arch support is a tad more pronounced than other brands..I am a 190 pound midfoot striker and these accomodate my stride nicely....I would rather buy this shoe and perhaps buy a bit more often than spend another [...] bucks more on a neutral plus shoe for heavier folks and actually get less comfort...worth checking out..good luck
