This set is awesome for a beginner, i started with a really bad used set and after a year of saving up money i bought this. It really is a good set for beginner/intermediate drummers, and they last a long time, i've had my set for 3 years and it's still amazing

The Cheapest Good Sounding Kit on the Market
If you are primarily a rock player with drumset, and are looking for the most affordable kit possible that isn't going to break down on you, buy the Pearl Forum. I have found the hardware to be very durable and low maintennance. The Forum has better sounding hi-hats than most other kits of the same price that include a hi-hat. If you have plenty of money to spare, and have been playing for a long time, I do not recommend this kit. However, if you are a beginner to intermediate drumset player on a budget, or a drumkit player who primarily does jazz, r&b, or latin and rarely does rock (but needs a rock kit), I highly, highly recommend the Pearl Forum.
