Freaky! But it works like a charm
This cd has saved my voice from shusshing and the vacuum from excessive wear. It works better than any other sounds- but only if used with a number of the other 5 S's mentioned in Dr Karp's video/book. The first track (of three) sounds a bit like it is out of a horror movie- I expect passers-by to look in my living room window and see Jason or Chuckie! The other two tracks are a bit more mellow, and my husband is even calmed by the third track!
Great in conjunction with the book.
This is a good CD to use in conjunction with the book. I had trouble getting the 'white noise' on my local radio frequency and this CD helped a lot. My son even used it after he had outgrown some of the other techniques. It works best for younger babies though. If you want to use it, I would start it pretty soon after you get home from the hospital. If it is not part of their bedtime routine by 3 months, it won't work.
WORKS GREAT!
Our first daughter was colicky so we tried to be prepared for the second. Although our second daughter was not colicky we used the CD anyway. When she was about 3 months old we quit using it but over a month later our babysitter couldn't get her to stop crying when she put her to bed so she put the CD on. She was quiet immedietly, apparently she still remembered the sound! She's now a year old and when we turn the CD on she knows it's time to sleep, she calms down as soon as she hears it. We primarily used track 3 and that is all we use now. We keep it on all night and at nap times, it blocks out the other noises in the house and our 3 year old. When anyone hears the sound over our monitor they joke that it sounds like an alien space movie or something, it's not white noise, more of a womb/heartbeat sound.
