The hard drive features a 5400 RPM speed and an 8MB cache for outstanding performance. Connected via USB 2.0, the drive offers up to 480 Mbps throughput and with FireWire 400, it offers up to 400 Mbps throughput. The hard drive will work with both PCs and Macs, and is FAT32 preformatted for added convenience.

Superb
Superb little hard drive. I only use it as a firewire drive, so I can't speak to its USB capabilities. I originally ordered a Western Digitial Passport, but I later found that iBooks and PowerBooks don't output enough USB power to run it off USB alone -- this little drive functions just fine powered only by the firewire port.
For OS X 10.5 users, this is a great Time Machine drive. I bought a second for my fiancee.
Exactly what I wanted!
After reading several reviews on many different portable drives, I decided to buy this one. It has turned out ot be a very wise decision. I wanted something small and light that needed no power adapter. It had to be user friendly and able to store whatever I wanted to put on it. This thing is just as easy to use as a flash drive and works very well using the usb cable. I haven't tried the firewire yet. I also use this as a privacy drive by using Folderlock software. In my opinion, this portable hard drive is well worth the money. I would buy again in a heartbeat!
This little drive steps up to the challenge
I use this product with my MACs to load video through Final Cut Pro. It works flawlessly through firewire. I've not used it USB. After a 1 year it's still going...
