well worth the $$$
We bought this for our 2 boys, ages 2 and 3. They absolutely LOVE it! We put it away each day and make it a special treat for them to bounce, bounce and bounce for just an hour or two each morning. We set the Jump-O-Lene up about 1 month ago and have had no issues with it. We followed the directions right on the product and it seems to be holding up well and the boys haven't fallen out. I do recommend having an air pump as it can't be blown up with out one very well. We also keep it inside and don't allow toys inside of it to avoid it getting punctured (it does take some space!). I highly recommend this bouncer as a way to burn off excess energy, particularly when the weather keeps the kids inside for most of the day!
Love it -- fun and healthy toy for young children
My four-year-old son and six-year-old daughter love this toy! It is big enough for both of them to play in it together, though I would hesitate to put a third child in the toy at the same time. It lends itself to active play (examples: jumping, rolling, and, twisting) as well as more sedate play (examples: role playing, storing soft toys inside, using it as a play tent, and looking at books). It would also work as a ballpit, but be aware that children are likely to throw the balls out of the pit, which would be a pain to clean up.
We use it inside, on a carpeted surface. It seems to be one of the better indoor toys for exercise and physical play.
I had always been nervous about getting a 'real' trampoline -- I have read too many stories about injuries. Plus, my son is a daredevil. I decided to purchase this relatively safe trampoline-like toy because of a recommendation from The Way of Boys: Raising Healthy Boys in a Challenging and Complex World. (By the way, I love this book!!) Dr. Rao suggests the use of trampolines to burn off some of the excess energy of young boys. (He did not, of course, recommend this trampoline specifically.)
It was easy to inflate (took about 10 or 15 minutes) and there was no other assembly necessary. We have only had the toy for a few days, so I do not have a feel for its durability. (The kit did include a patch.)
FYI... You may notice that some Amazon retailers offer this item at a substantial discount from the price that Amazon itself sells it. This discrepancy seems to stem from the fact that this toy would be eligible for SuperSaver shipping, thus making it free to ship from Amazon directly. Thus, Amazon has simply rolled into its price the price of the shipping. The bottom line is that there is not much difference between the price of the item from Amazon or from one of its related sellers.
SO BUMMED!!
OH man! We LOVED this item!!! We bought it for our daughter - the end of November 09. NOW, here we are in December 09 and we've not only patched one leak(which means about a week into it - we had to buy a patch kit), but now we're trying to find leak #2.... It's been on a flat surface, free of any debris, etc. My daughter LOVES this thing - and I loved the fact that she could go and spend :30 minutes in it, in my sight, while I was fixing dinner. Such a fantastic alternative to a television show - her normal request. The jumpolene had completely replaced any "electronic babysitter" I had during this key piece of our nightly routine. I am really heartbroken that it has proven to be so flimsy. And I doubt the company would replace it since we've already patched it. Ultimately great [physical] fun for kids, but has lasted us about 10 days total. So bummed! I would encourage you to look to other companies for this awesome concept of a toy! (oh...and really important to mention -- when she was jumping in it just last night, before we realized we had leak number 2, she flopped down backwards and her head went all the way through to the ground - not enough air in it (despite the appearance of being inflated) and her head hit the concrete flooring it was sitting on. She cried and cried in agony and I hated this toy for allowing her to get hurt! So if you do opt to by it - beware.)
