Customer Reviews
The European century
This is a lucid synthetic survey of Europe 1870-1970, paying attention to intellectual and social trends as well as political developments. Joll has an eye for the telling quotation and a firm grasp of the period. He was an excellent historian. Harper & Row (or whatever the firm is called now) should never have let this book go out of print.
