Product Description

With a skip, hop, and a jump, four adorable bunnies go playing in the kitchen, in the garden, in the toy box, in the closet -- all over the house -- and learn the words for child-familiar objects along the way. Warm, meticulous illustrations help children recognize colors, shapes, bedtime words, bathtime words, animals, clothes, foods, and more. Over 150 words are depicted in 16 thematic sections. Simple word and concept games help children further broaden their vocabularies and develop early reading skills.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist
Ages 1^-4. This first vocabulary book uses basic words to label pictures of everyday objects, from toys to clothes. The pictures are bright and clear against lots of white space, and playful rabbit characters are shown having fun at the park, in the kitchen, around the house. Then there are pages on shapes and colors. A note at the back suggests games that adults can play to introduce the words and concepts to small children. Hazel Rochman

Children's Literature
The mischievous rabbit who jumped into cans of paint returns in this delightful "first word" book...Young readers will have just as much fun with this book as Little Rabbit does. The bright, crisp illustrations are pleasing as well as playful.

Children's Literature
This is a wonderfully illustrated book that is perfect for teaching very young children concepts, colors, shapes, language and identification skills...This is excellent choice for parents and/or teachers who want to spend quality time helping their child unlock the mysteries of language and begin to understand word/picture associations.

Customer Reviews

A great first book and game combination5
My daughter is 2 1/2 years old and this book has become one of her favorites. Aside from pointing to the pictures and naming the objects, we play some of the games suggested by the book. She enjoys looking for the animals or objects that I name for her or telling me what sounds the animals make. As she gets older, I think this book will be a nice companion for early writing and spelling exercises. With a little imagination, this book can be a highly versatile part of any child's library.

Excellent book!5
I purchased this book for my 2-year-old for his birthday so he'd have his own copy. He loved the one we checked out from the library and wanted to read it so often that I was afraid he was going to wear it out (or tear the pages). (Tip: This is a paperback book, but I bought laminating paper and laminated every other page myself so now he can't tear the pages!) The pictures are very colorful, and the objects are broken down into everyday topics that he can relate to such as clothes (shoes, shirt, socks, etc.), things to eat (cookies, orange, corn, etc.), and colors (purple grapes, green frog, red strawberries, etc.) just to name a few. My son has learned to say several new words from us reading this book together. I often find him "reading" this book on his own. This is a "must have" book for any young toddler and definitely one of his favorites. Enjoy!
